MTCs on Ebay May 2017
5/1/17
Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1972 London Bridge Dollar. Mintage 25,000. Catalog value $4.00. This one went up for bid at $9.00 plus $3.00 shipping. It sold to the second bidder at $9.50.
5/1/17
Hawaii, Honolulu. 1991 Honolulu Dala. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $15.00, but that price was from back when silver was $8.00 an ounce. When I price it up for the next edition it will be under twice the silver value. If I were to price it today with silver at $16.61, it and the other common modern Hawaii issues would probably be listed at $30.00. This one has been available for some time for $60.00. Somewhere down the line the seller added the Make Offer option, and right now it is On Sale for 10% off - $54.00, still with that Make Offer option. The current listing ends on July 7.
5/1/17
Iowa, Pocahontas. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar, First Issue, struck in antiqued brass. There were 500 of the First Issue coins produced, but they - like the standard issue - were made in golden brass. This is the first of this issue I have heard about in an oxidized finish. The GB First Editions catalog for $15.00, this new one will be listed for $17.50. The token opened at $1.99 plus $2.18, and I won it as the second bidder at just $2.24.
5/2/17
Montana. 1964 Statehood Diamond Jubilee, Territorial Centennial Dollar, struck in Sterling Silver. Mintage 1,000 plus (probably plus a lot). Catalog value $15.00 for the numbered or un-numbered version, the seller did not mention an edge inscription. The start was $24.95 plus $2.50 shipping. There were no bids, so it went down to $23.70 for a couple weeks, then $22.52. That is as low as it got - on June 24 the seller ended the listing unsold.
5/3/17
California, Crescent City. Undated Sons of the Beach 4 Bits. Uncirculated, as most are. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $6.50. Offered for just a single week with a starting bid of $9.95 plus $2.50, or a Buy It Now price of $20.00. There were no takers.
5/3/17
California, Santa Catalina Island. 1994 Catalina Island Trade Dollar. Mintage 10,000. Catalog value $3.00. Offered at a $4.95 plus $2.67 start, but there were no bids. Listed until June 21 when the item was ended unsold.
5/4/17
Oklahoma, Lawton. 1951 50th Anniversary Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $10.00. These seldom come in Uncirculated, but this one was only VF/XF, which is below average for this issue. Sold to a single bidder for the opening bid of $5.00 plus $1.00.
5/4/17
Oregon, Canyon City. 1962 Centennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $6.50. This auction was for an About Uncirculated example, which is probably just slightly better than average. Sold to a single bidder for the $2.99 plus $2.99 opening bid.
5/5/17
California, Poway. 1980 109th Anniversary Chamber of Commerce Wampum Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. Sold to a single bidder at the $4.99 plus $2.60 opening bid.
5/5/17
Kansas, Hutchinson. 1961 State Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 4,000. Catalog value $4.00. This nice example was offered for $1.99 plus $2.65, but there were no bidders during its week on Ebay.
5/5/17
Maryland, Frederick County. 1964 Battle of Monocacy - Generals Wallace and Early Half Dollar. Mintage 20,000. Catalog value $3.00. Offered for $4.99 plus $2.75. Listed unsuccessfully until June 18 - the last week as a BIN item at the same price.
5/6/17
Kansas. 1961 Official Centennial Coin for Woodson County. Not previously listed individually. A generic one, from any location, cataloged at $2.50 in the last edition of the MTC catalog. This one, from Woodson County, is quite scarce. It sold to a single bidder at the opening price of $5.00 plus and additional dollar for postage.
5/7/17
Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1975 London Bridge Dollar. Variety without the die crack through L of LONDON. Total mintage 20,000. Catalog value $4.00. Sold to a single bidder for the opening price of $11.91 plus $2.50. High compared to my catalog value, but a give-away compared to the price it is available for from the issuer.
5/7/17
Michigan, Grenville. 1944 (1948) Centennial Quarter. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. This one was in the typical Extremely Fine condition, and was offered for $3.99 plus $2.95 shipping. There were 4 bids by 3 bidders and it sold for $5.59.
5/7/17
Montana, Wolf Point. 1965 Golden Jubilee Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.50. Sold to a single bidder for the $2.99 plus $3.00 opening.
5/8/17

This About Uncirculated example was offered for $1.99 plus $1.25. No bids. It has been available ever since at the same price - the current listing ends on July 10.
5/8/17
Oregon, Portland. 1913 Rose Festival 50¢ Contributors Medal. Not previously listed, but perhaps to be included in the next. This one was VF/XF but heavily cleaned or polished. Offered, and sold, to a single bidder for the $16.00 plus $2.95 opening bid.
5/9/17
Kansas. 1954 Kansas Territorial Centennial Coin. This was for a nearly Uncirculated example with no issuing location noted. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.00. Sold to a single bidder for the $3.00 plus $3.00 starting bid.
5/9/17
Montana, Billings. 1968 50th Anniversary State Fair and Rodeo Dollar in Nickel Silver. Mintage 15,063 plus another 1,149 in Proof Like condition, housed in a Franklin Mint easel holder - as this. I catalog the standard version for $3.50, and the identical Proof Like Version for $6.50, if still in the original holder. Offered for $7.95 plus $3.19 postage. There were no bids. It is still being offered for the same price as I write this two months later.
5/9/17
Nebraska, Rock County. 1962 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $15.00. This one, in nearly Uncirculated condition sold to a single bidder for its $3.99 plus $3.25 opening bid. A bargain!
5/9/17
South Dakota. 1974 Seventh Cavalry Centennial Dollar, struck in copper. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. This example had the edge pictured and it was lettered © RSC. Previously I had only listed a plain edge version. I was the only bidder at the $10.00 plus $2.75 start.
5/10/17
Missouri, Liberty and Clay County. 1972 Sesquicentennial Dollars, set of numbered antiqued silver and oxidized brass. Mintage 1,000 each. Catalog value $20.00 and $8.00, respectively. This set has been available for a while now as a Buy It Now item at $79.00 with FREE shipping. Still available as of mid July.
5/11/17
Kansas, Leavenworth. 1974 Buffalo Bill Cody Days Dollar. Mintage 1,000. Catalog value $7.00. The same specimen I noted last August - still available at the same price - $14.99 plus $2.50 BIN - but like the item below, cancelled today “because there was an error in the listing”. This one came back too, a little cheaper. First $13.99 then $13.49 with FREE shipping. Still available as of July 10.
5/11/17
Missouri, Lee’s Summit. 1965 Centennial Half Dollar Struck in Silver - Cole Younger’s grave version. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged. The same specimen I have been following for over a year now. Since I last commented on it it has fallen a bit from $99.99 plus $2.50 (Buy It Now) to $94.99 - again plus $2.50. On May 11 the listing was ended “because there was an error in the listing” - but it came right back, apparently with no no changes other than the price - this time for $85.49 plus $2.50. The current listing ends on July 29.
5/12/13
Alabama, Muscle Shoals. 1961 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar. Extremely Fine with no gilting left. Mintage 10,000. Catalog value $3.50. Very popular with Confederacy and Civil War collectors. Formerly an Auction item, this one is now a Buy It Now item currently priced at $35.00 plus $2.67. The price may seem high, but this piece has an astounding 12 watchers - probably waiting for another price reduction. I don’t know why they would go for this one as there is another one in Uncirculated condition coming up with a $2.99 (plus $6.87!) start that does not have a bid, or even a single watcher yet. I have noted many times before that these MTCs that are typically found in Uncirculated condition sometimes bring much more if they are well used - they just don’t look so modern is my guess as to why.
5/13/17
North Dakota, Langdon. 1963 75th Jubilee Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $6.00. This choice item could not find a single bidder at its $1.99 plus $3.00 opening, and it was not relisted.
5/14/17
Alaska, Fairbanks. 1959 Alaska Statehood Dollar. Mintage 200,000 or more. Catalog value $1.50. Choice Uncirculated. Offered for $19.99 plus $2.67. When no one bid it was made a BIN item for $15.00 plus $2.67. The current listing ends on July 12.
5/14/17
California, Santa Catalina Island. 1991 Trade Dollar. Mintage 10,000. Catalog value $3.50. Offered unsuccessfully for 99¢ plus $4.25 shipping. There were no bids, so the seller tried one more time for ten times that price - $9.99 plus $4.25. That didn’t work either, so the seller gave up and ended his listing.
5/14/17
Indiana, Richmond. 1976 Bicentennial Half Dollar - Private issue for Hornak’s Liquor Mart. Unknown mintage. Not previously listed. About Uncirculated. A new one to me - I was quite pleased to win it for the opening bid of 99¢ plus $2.61 shipping.
5/14/17
Kansas. 1961 Official Centennial Coin inscribed Miss Kansas Pageant Pratt, Kansas, and struck in antiqued brass. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged individually. This one started at $4.99 plus $2.00 shipping and sold for $24.50 after 6 bids by 3 bidders.
5/14/17
Michigan, Sanford. 1970 Centennial Souvenir Coin, struck in golden brass. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.50. This one was available for a start of $6.00 plus $2.00 shipping. There were no bids so the seller raised the price to $9.95 plus $2.00. Still available on July 10.
5/14/17
Minnesota. 1958 Uniface Half Dollar struck in Gilt Brass, holed version. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged, but So Called Dollar collectors list it as HK-517. Put up in a hard plastic slab and overgraded MS-62 by NGC. To me it looks like XF/AU. The start was $19.00 with FREE shipping, and it sold for $41.24 after 4 bids by 3 bidders.
5/15/17
Idaho, Soda Springs. Undated Henry Stampede Dime. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.00. This one, priced at $7.50 plus $2.00, received no bids and was not relisted.
5/15/17
Michigan, Hillsdale. 1969 Centennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.50. Offered for $1.99 plus $4.00 shipping. No bids - not relisted.
5/16/17
Texas, Austin. 1974 Texas Dollar. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged. This scratched AU example available for a start of $3.99 plus $2.67. After a week with no bids it was made a Buy It Now item for a little less - $3.45 still plus $2.67. As of July 14 it is still available.
5/17/17
Alaska, Fairbanks. 1959 Statehood Dollar. Original mintage about 200,000 with more struck later. Catalog value $1.50. A nice uncirculated example graded MS-64 and sealed in an NGC slab. The start was $2.99, and after 7 bids by 3 bidders, it sold for $8.50. The postage fee was $4.00.
5/17/17
Illinois, Chicago. 1893 Columbian Exposition $15.00 Private issue for Harvey Land Company. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged. An otherwise very pleasing XF/AU example, but with a tiny hole at top. It started at $14.99 and sold for $16.58 after 3 bids by 3 bidders.
5/17/17
Michigan. Undated Michigan One Buck. Unknown mintage. Not previously cataloged. Golden brass in choice uncirculated condition. Nobody wanted it at its $6.00 opening bid or $7.95 BIN price even though the shipping was only $1.50. It has been available since that time only at the $7.95 plus $1.50 Buy It Now price, and is still available on July 15.
5/17/17
Oregon, Woodburn. 1964 75th Anniversary Half Dollar. Put up at a $8.00 with FREE shipping start. Apparently that is too much because it is still being offered for the same amount, more than 2 months later. The current listing ends on July 20.
5/18/17
Missouri, Glasgow. 1961 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. Mintage 3,000. Catalog value $6.50. This About Uncirculated specimen failed to attract any bids at its reasonable $3.99 plus $1.10 start, so after trying for 3 weeks, the seller ended his listing unsold on June 9.
5/19/17
Indiana, Portland. 1966 Indiana Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $6.50. Offered at a very reasonable $2.49 plus $2.67 start - but there were no bids and it was not relisted.
5/19/17
Minnesota, Cass County. 1958 Minnesota State Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 7,500. Catalog value $5.00. Up for bid with a $7.50 start and a very high $5.00 postage fee. There were no bids, and after one additional week on Ebay the listing was ended unsold.
5/19/17
Nebraska, Norfolk. 1966 Centennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. The seller hoped to entice a $7.50 plus $5.00 start from someone, but of course failed. After one additional week at this price, the seller ended the listing unsold.
5/19/17
North Dakota, Bismarck. 1961 Dakota Territory Centennial Half Dollars. Pair of GB and NS pieces, both with the December 31 redemption date and the inscription reverse. I am not certain of the mintage of the much more common golden brass piece, but there were only 1,000 made of the Nickel Silver version. Catalog value $2.00 and $5.00, respectively. They were offered with a $3.99 plus $2.75 start (or a $9.95 BIN price), and did not receive a bid. The seller then reduced the opening bid by 50¢ and dropped the BIN option, and tried for two more weeks before giving up and ending the listing.
5/20/17
Alaska, Skagway. 1974 Gateway to the Klondike Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. Even with a $1.99 (plus $2.95 postage) start, this one did not find a bidder this week, or during the following week - so the listing was ended by the seller.
5/20/17
Oregon, Albany. 1948 Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000. Catalog value $3.50. Uncirculated, but with a small corrosion spot on the reverse. The opening bid was $7.95 plus $1.85. Listed for another month at the same price, but as a Buy It Now item. The listing was eventually ended by the seller unsold.
5/20/17
Washington, Walla Walla. 1939 Washington Golden Jubilee Fair Admission Token. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. An uncirculated example graded MS-65 and encapsulated in an ANACS slab. The start was 10 times catalog for this older piece which is typically found in Uncirculated condition - $40.00 with FREE shipping. When it did not sell the first week, it was relisted at the same price, but now with a $5.00 shipping charge. Listed at that level until June 24, when the seller ended his listing unsold.
5/21/17
Ohio, Norwalk. 1959 Firelands Centennial Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.50. The start was just 99¢, but the postal charge was $4.00. When it did not sell, the seller raised his price to $9.99 for a few days before ending his listing entirely.
5/22/17
Hawaii, Maui. Set of 5 Maui Dollars, 2002 to 2006 in the serial numbered (03249) cardboard holder the set was issue in by the Maui Trade Dollar Association. Sold to a single bidder at the $19.99 plus $7.99 postage starting bid.
5/22/17
Florida, Fort Pierce. 1963 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.50. This one is a very well worn Fine condition - it must have spent decades in someones pocket as a lucky piece. Available as a BIN item for just $25.00 plus $2.67 shipping. It is still available to anyone who wants it at that price as of August 15.
5/22/17
Ohio, Portsmouth Area - Scioto County. 1965 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. Offered unsuccessfully for just this one week at a $2.99 plus $2.99 start.

Texas. Undated Texas Dollar in Oxidized Bronze. Type with state bird and state flower on map of Texas on the reverse. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.00. After a 99¢ plus $2.67 start, this piece attracted 4 bids from 3 bidders and sold for $2.30.
5/24/17
Kansas. Official Centennial Coin for Sherman County. Unknown mintage. Not previously listed individually. Sherman County is a little on the scarce side compared to the other 104 counties these Official Centennial Coins were produced for. After a $5.99 with FREE shipping start it sold for $7.35 after 3 bids by 3 bidders.
5/24/17
Kansas, Concordia. 1961 Kansas Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 2,500. Catalog value $6.00. Starting bid, which was not met, was $4.95 plus $2.61 shipping. It was offered for a couple more weeks before being made a Buy It Now item at the same cost. It is still available, with the current listing ending on August 5.
5/24/17
Minnesota, Cass County. 1958 Minnesota State Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 7,500. Catalog value $5.00. About Uncirculated. Another one of these with the pseudo HK-517A designation. For this one the seller noted that NGC no longer will encapsulate this issue labeled as a So-Called Dollar. I guess someone got to them and told them why it was not a SCD. Good! The seller did say, “So, I guess it is now an Unlisted so-called dollar”. That was a good piece of salesmanship, but this time it did not work very well. The token attracted just one bid and it sold for its $9.95 plus $2.85 opening.
5/24/17
Montana, Fort Benton. 1971 (1972) 125th Anniversary Dollar, standard un-numbered nickel-silver version. Mintage 14,000. Catalog value $4.00. This one had a 99¢ start and a $2.75 shipping fee. There were two bids and it sold for $1.50.
5/24/17
Montana, Libby. 1967 Diamond Jubilee Dollars - a lot of 4 that show some slight signs of handling. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $6.50 each. Just a bit on the scarce side, but not as hard to find as they used to be. The four could have been had for $39.00 with FREE shipping. When there were no bids, the lot was lowered to a start of $29.00, and later made a BIN item at the same price. Still no bids after two months. The current listing ends on August 16.
5/25/17
Alaska, Alaska Boosters. “1962” Land of the Midnight Sun $5.00, Blanket Toss version. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. Up for bid with a $17.99 with FREE shipping. No bids, so it was relisted at $14.99, and then $12.95 before the item was ended without a sale on June 11.
5/25/17
California, Burney State Park. 1962 Souvenir Gold Coin, short trees version, struck in antiqued brass. Unknown mintage. The first of these in this finish that I have seen or heard of. Miraculously, I was the only bidder at the $4.99 plus $2.75 opening bid. Wow!
5/25/17
Nebraska, Wahoo. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar, private issue for Economy Grocery, the plain border variety. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.00. There were no bids during its single week on Ebay at its 99¢ plus $2.99 start. Not relisted. Ebay presented “More chances to get what you wanted” by picturing 5 more of these which are currently available as BIN items. All uncirculated and priced at $3.99 + $2.75, $5.50 + $2.60, $9.29 + $2.99, $11.00 and $11.99 - these final two with FREE shipping.

5/26/17
Minnesota, Cass County. 1958 Minnesota Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 7,500. Catalog value $5.00. The start was a reasonable $7.50, but the postage was an extreme $5.00. There were no bids, and the item was ended unsold.
5/27/17
Illinois, Evergreen Park. 1968 75th Anniversary Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.00. Offered at a $5.00 with FREE shipping start, but there were no bids and it was not relisted.
5/27/17
Michigan, Ishpeming and Negaunee. 1973 Founders Day Dollar. Mintage 10,000. Catalog value $4.50. Sold to a single bidder at the $8.95 with FREE shipping start.
5/27/17
Montana. 1964 Territorial Centennial Dollar Struck in silver. Mintage: More than 1,000. Catalog value $15.00. The seller did not describe the edge, so I cannot determine which variety this one was. It started at $15.95 plus $4.00, and sold for $17.50 after 3 bids by 3 different bidders.
5/27/17
Ohio, Gallipolis. 1965 175th Anniversary Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. Offered for a start of $7.99 plus $2.75 additional for shipping. No bids. It was listed every week at this level until at least September 2.

Pennsylvania, Linglestown. 1965 Bicentennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. With a $7.99 with FREE shipping start, this one has been relisted by the seller, but resisted by the bidders for two months now. The current listing ends on August 1.
5/28/17
Hawaii. 1984 Admission Day Dala in golden brass. Mintage 6,874. Catalog value $4.00. This one, in proof-like condition, sold for $6.50 after a $4.50 plus $2.60 start and two bids.
5/28/17
Missouri, Excelsior Springs. 1961 Centennial Half Dollar in original descriptive envelope. Mintage 10,000. Catalog value $3.50. Up for bid with a $7.95 plus $2.99 opening bid. That was pretty steep, but I bid because I was not sure I had the original envelope. As you would expect at this price, no one else bid, and I won it for the opening price.
5/28/17
Missouri, Worth County. 1961 Centennial Half Dollar in Extremely Fine condition. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $7.50. The start was $9.99 plus $2.49, which appears to be too much as it is still available two months later as a BIN item for the same price - but currently on sale for 10% off. The sale ends on July 28.
5/28/17
Montana, Northeast Division. 1964 Territorial Centennial, State 75th Anniversary Dollar. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. Offered for just $1.50 plus $2.60 shipping. There were no bids and it was not relisted.
5/28/17
Nebraska, Gothenburg. 1960 Pony Express Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000 including both orientation varieties. No way to tell which this one was from the photos. Catalog value either $3.50 if it is the up/down (coin) orientation, or $4.50 if it is the up/up (medal) orientation. After an unsuccessful week at auction it became a BIN item at the same cost. As I was typing this up I decided it was such a choice example that it would be a good investment - but the sale ended two days ago, on July 25, because “the item is no longer available”! Another example of “If you snooze, you loose”. Another seller offered another example of this token starting on June 29, this one an ordinary quality Uncirculated piece, for $4.78 plus $2.54. It lasted through the first week, but sold to a single bidder when it was offered again the following week.
5/29/17
Florida, Clearwater, Tampa, St. Petersburg Tri-City Fiesta. 1960 Land Lubber Souvenir Treasure Coin - non-winning variety. These coins were hidden around Indian Rocks Beach, and while most were just “Souvenir Coins”, some were numbered and could be redeemed for a silver dollar - If you could find the Indian Rocks Beach merchant displaying the number of the winning coin. I think in the next edition I am going to move the issuing location of these coins to Indian Rocks Beach instead of Clearwater. This one, as most - considering the way they were distributed - only in Extremely Fine condition. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. This one was priced at a $4.99 plus $2.99 start. There were no bids and it is still available at the end of July as a Buy It Now item at the same price.
5/29/17
Hawaii. 1883 / 1980 King Kalakaua Akahi Dala in antiqued nickel-silver. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $4.00. The start for this one was 99¢ plus $2.75. After 5 bids by 5 different bidders it sold for $4.23.
5/30/17
Michigan, Sanford. 1970 Centennial Souvenir Coin struck in golden brass. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $3.50. The $7.00 plus $3.00 start was just too high, so it remains available today, July 27th - except now you get to pay $9.50 plus $3.00 as a BIN item. The same seller has two more of these available, now also BIN items and priced at $9.00 and $9.95, both plus $3.00 for shipping.
5/30/17
Ohio, Mansfield. 1958 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar struck in Aluminum. Encapsulated and graded MS-65 PL by NGC. The grading for this one seems pretty accurate. Mintage 5,000. Catalog value $7.50. The start was $45.00 plus $6.95 for shipping. There were no bids, and the seller lowered his price to $35.00 BIN. Then $32.00, and later $30.00, still with that steep shipping charge. It is still available at that price as of July 27. **** Just came across this token still being offered at the end of the year. Still the same cost, but for the listing ending January 6, 2018, it has just been made a Buy It Now item.
5/30/17
Ohio, Milan. 1959 Homecoming and Melon Festival Half Dollar. Encapsulated and graded MS-66 by NGC, for whatever that is worth. Unknown mintage. Catalog value $5.00. Started at $45.00 plus $6.95 for shipping, but the seller eventually lowered the start to $29.00 where it remains today, July 27. **** Note - This token is still being offered for the same price (now as a BIN item) at the end of the year. The present listing ends January 8, 2018.
