Municipal Tokens on Ebay December 2013

12/1/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  1974 London Bridge Dollar, no die crack variety. The start was $3.00 plus $2.00 shipping. There were five bids and it ended up selling at $13.85. There were 20,000 pieces struck and I catalog them at $4.00. No longer available on the issuer's website, but they note that it's price would be $107.00.

12/1/13

California, Fort Bragg. 1967 Paul Bunyan Dollar. Catalog value $4.50 - mintage 3,000. This piece described as bing in "fine shape" looked uncirculated - or nearly so. The starting bid was $2.50 plus another $2.50 shipping. There were 7 bids and the token sold for $6.50

12/1/13

Idaho, Soda Springs. Undated Henry Stampede Dime. The Henry Stampede was an annual rodeo. The token is rather common, but it does not appear nearly as often as it did a few years ago, Catalog value $3.00. This piece offered for $5.00 with FREE shipping received no bids.

12/1/13

Illinois, Galena. 1961 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000 - Catalog $5.00. An uncirculated piece offered for a start of $9.99 with FREE shipping - there were no bids.

12/1/13

Massachusetts, Dennis - Harwich. 1975 Cape Cod Dollar. Five thousand pieces were struck and released for general circulation by the local Lion's Club. Catalog value $5.00. This piece was offered for $6.00 plus $1.90 shipping, but found no bids.

12/1/13

New York, Homer. 1960 125th Jubilee Half Dollar, extremely fine. Mintage 2,500 - Catalog value $7.50. This circulated piece offered for $4.95 plus $1.75 shipping. No bids, so the seller relisted it for three more weeks before giving up and ending the listing.

12/1/13

New York, NYC. 1973 - 1983 Bicentennial American World's Fair $1,000 Exhibit Space token. Probably listable - it's a good for and it celebrates the American Bicentennial. The starting bid was 99¢ plus $4.65 shipping - in addition, there was a $15.00 Buy It Now option. There were no bids.

12/1/13

Tennessee, Chattanooga. 1965 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. Very choice specimen. Up for bid at $7.50 plus $1.95 shipping, but there were no bids. Offered repeatedly until January 18 when it finally received two bids (by the same bidder) and sold for the opening price.

12/2/13

Oregon, Canby. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar. A little hard to find, I catalog these at $4.50. This specimen was offered for 99¢ plus $2.50 shipping. It sold to a single bidder.

12/3/13

Alaska, North Pole. 1963 Santa Claus House Dollar. Set of gilt brass and silver. The pair was offered for $35.00 plus $3.00 shipping. No bids at all. Mintage 5,000 in gilt brass and 750 in silver. I catalog the pair at $24.00. Going up $5 or $10 in the next edition because of the change in the price of silver.

12/3/13

Michigan, Ludington. 1961 Perch Festival Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000 with a catalog value of $3.50. This piece was offered for $7.21 with FREE shipping. It sold to a single bidder at the opening price.

12/4/13

Washington, Whidbey Island. 1936 Water Festival Half Dollar. Once quite rare, a "roll" of these was discovered recently during the renovation of an old store on Whidbey Island. The choice pieces appearing on ebay in the last year or so have come from that roll. Apparently some of the pieces were affected by aluminum rust, while others were in excellent condition. This one was very choice. It started at $22.00 and sold for $31.10 after 3 bids. Catalog value $20.00.

12/5/13

California, Fort Bragg. 1966 Paul Bunyan Days Dollar. The fourth issue in a 6 year series. Three thousand were struck and I catalog it for $4.50. This one was offered for $4.95 plus $1.99 shipping. There were no bids.

12/5/13

Pennsylvania, Manheim. 1962 Bicentennial Half Dollar. A nice uncirculated example offered for $2.00 plus $2.32 shipping. No bids. There were 5,000 of these struck and they catalog for $4.00.

12/5/13

Washington, Puyallup. 1965 Western Washington Fair Half Dollar. I am unaware of the mintage of this piece, but it is readily available and I list it for $3.50. Offered for $3.99 plus $1.05 shipping, but there were no bids.

12/6/13

Illinois, Geneva. 1961 125th Anniversary Swedish Days Half Dollar. The starting price for this was just $2.99 (Buy It Now $7.99) plus $1.95 shipping. No bids. This piece had a mintage of 10,000 and catalogs for $3.50.

12/6/13

Michigan, Mason County. 1955 Centennial Quarter. Catalog value - $4.50. The seller priced this at $9.99 (BIN $17.00) plus $1.95 postage.  No bids.

12/6/13

North Dakota, Jamestown/Fort Seward. 1972 Centennial Half Dollar. Unknown mintage, catalog value $5.00. This was a nice uncirculated specimen that was offered for $4.99 plus $1.95 shipping ($9.99 Buy It Now). There were no bids.

12/6/13

Pennsylvania, Forest Hills. 1969 Golden Jubilee Half Dollar. The reported mintage for this issue is just 1,000 pieces, but apparently the majority of them went into numismatic circles because they are not at all hard to find. I don't remember seeing one of these in circulated condition, so I suspect that they never were actually used. I catalog them for just $4.00 - which may be a bit high. This specimen was put up for bid at $1.99 plus another $1.99 for shipping, but there were no bidders. Relisted for two additional weeks, it still went without a bid, and the seller ended the listing.

12/7/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1984/85 London Bridge Dollar. Currently available on the Lake Havasu City Rotary Club website for $20.00. I catalog it for $3.00 in this finish (nickel silver) and it has a mintage of 25,000 pieces. The seller started this one at a mere 99¢ plus $1.75 shipping, but got no bids. Relisted on one day sales three times at the same cost, it still received no bids. Then it was listed with a one week listing, and this time it finally sold to a single bidder at the opening price.

12/7/13

Florida, Key West. 1972 Conch Republic Conch Dollar. U.S. Highway 1 version. Catalog value $7.50. Very popular with and always drawing high prices from collectors of coins from "micronations", this started at $5.99, drew 8 bids, and sold for $29.65 plus $1.05 shipping. The seller described this piece as being in "very fine" condition. It did look like it had a tiny bit of circulation, but it was much better than very fine. These coins were cast in a pewter-like metal and never had much detail on them to start with. They almost looked used when they were issued!

12/7/13

Hawaii, Maui. 1959 Statehood Dollar. Version with the correct spelling of Oahu and third line on reverse beginning next to the ornament. Encapsulated and graded MS 65 by NGC. This item started at 99¢ + $2.99 shipping. It drew a healthy 24 bids and ended up selling for $40.99. I catalog this variety with a reported mintage of 25,000 at $5.00.

12/7/13

Illinois, Carlyle. 1962 Quasquicentennial Half Dollar. Mintage 3,000 - catalog value $4.00. The seller wanted $4.99 plus $3.32 shipping, so he got no bids. He lowered his price to $1.99, still with that nasty $3.32 shipping, and tried for three more weeks before ending his listing without a single bid.

12/7/13

Indiana, Carlisle. 1965 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. A scarcer issue cataloging for $6.00. This example started at $2.99 + $2.95 shipping. It drew 3 bids and sold for $6.76.

12//7/13

Oregon, Baker. 1974 Centennial Dollar. Offered for $7.99 ($13.00 BIN) plus $1.95 shipping, this attractive piece got no bids. Catalog value $5.00.

12/8/13

Arizona, Prescott. 1978 Frontier Buck. The first of a 5 year series. I catalog these for $5.00, but this one that started at $4.99 plus $1.65 shipping did not attract a single bid.

12/8/13

California, Palm Springs. 1976 Palm Springs Dollar, Bronze. Catalog value $5.00. This one was up for auction starting at $12.50 plus $1.25 shipping. Too high for now. No bids. Relisted several times until Feb. 9th when the seller placed it in his store - where it is still available if you want to pay that $12.50 price.

12/8/13

Hawaii, Honolulu. 1975 Honolulu dollar. Struck in oxidized bronze, but I was unable to determine which of the several varieties it is from the photos. Catalog value $3.50, which is a little low these days. The opening was a little high at $6.99, but the kiss of death was the $2.99 shipping fee. That makes it $9.98 for a common issue. Too much. Relisted 8 times since then and still it remains unsold.

12/8/13

Hawaii, Maui. 1994 Maui Trade Dollar. Mintage 135,000 max, cataloging $2.50. This piece was offered for a mere $15.00 plus $2.32 shipping. Listed at the same price week after week until January 11, when a single bidder won it.  Wow!

12/8/13

Hawaii, Maui. 2002 Maui Trade Dollar. Mintage 100,000 max, cataloging $2.50. Offered, and sold, to a single bidder for $7.50 with FREE shipping.

12/8/13

Idaho, Weiser. 1963 Idaho Territorial Centennial / National Fiddlers Festival Half Dollar in extremely fine condition. Offered for $2.99 plus $1.50 shipping. No bids. Catalog value $4.00 in uncirculated condition. Offered again the following week, still with no bids.

12/8/13

Minnesota, Virginia. 1958 Minnesota Centennial Iron Nickel. Catalog value $2.50 - this one selling for 99¢ plus a steep $3.25 for shipping.

12/8/13

Montana, Billings. 1968 Montana State Fair 50th Anniversary Dollar. A mintage of 15,063 is reported and I catalog it at $3.50 in uncirculated condition - which this one isn't. The start was $7.99 plus $1.95 shipping and that is what it sold for.

12/8/13

North Dakota. Set of 9 Souvenir Dollars 1972 - 1980. Missing the first year and the so-called "Error" coins. Mintage 4,000 each. This lot started at $9.99 plus $3.85 shipping, drew 2 bids, and sold for just $11.38. A bargain!

12/8/13

Ohio, Whitehouse. 1964 Centennial Half Dollar. This issue is somewhat scarce, cataloging at $6.00. The seller started this one at $1.99 plus $2.00 shipping, but there were no bids. Too bad - $3.99 would be a bargain for this piece.

12/8/13

Texas, Childress County. 1963 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Mintage 3,000 minimum, catalog value $4.00. Starting at 99¢ it received 3 bids and sold for $1.31 plus $2.32 shipping.

12/8/13

Texas, Winkler County. 1960 Golden Jubilee Half Dollar.  Mintage 2,500 - catalog value $4.00. Start was $1.99 plus $1.85 shipping. One bidder bid twice, but took this one home for the opening price.

12/9/13

California, Vacaville. 1963 Fiesta Days Half Dollar. Sold to a single bidder for the $2.99 opening price. With the $1.95 shipping fee, this piece sold almost exactly for the $4.00 I catalog it at.

12/9/13

Maryland, Williamsport. 1962 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar. No mintage figures available, but I catalog it at $5.00, so that means it doesn't show up every day. Opening bid was $7.99 plus $1.95 shipping. One collector was willing to go the price, so it sold at the opening bid.

12/9/13

Michigan, Leslie. 1961 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. No mintage information, but scarce enough to catalog for $5.00. This one which started off at $9.99 ($15 BIN) plus $1.95 shipping, did not attract a bid.

12/9/13

Nebraska, Sheridan County (Rushville). 1960 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. A legitimately scarce issue with a mintage of just 2,000 pieces, this was offered for $9.99 ($15.00 BIN) plus $1.95 shipping, but did not get a single bid. A year or so down the line you'll wish you had bought this one, which catalogs today at $6.50 in this shape. These are even harder to find in truly uncirculated condition, but this one was in the typical slightly used condition they are usually found in.

12/9/13

New York, Chemung County 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. Start $2.99 ($7.99 BIN) plus $1.95 shipping. No bids on this token I catalog for $4.50.

12/9/13

New York, Niagara County. 1959 Old Fort Niagara Bicentennial Half Dollar. Sold to a single bidder at the opening price of $1.99 plus $2.32 shipping. Catalog value $4.00, mintage 5,000 pieces.

12/9/13

Ohio, Orrville. 1964 Centennial Half Dollar. This issue is somewhat difficult to find, and currently catalogs at $4.50 - probably going all the way up to $5.00 in the next edition. This example was priced at a start of $2.99 ($7.99 BIN) plus $1.95 shipping, but received no bids.

12/10/13

Indiana, Orleans. 1965 Sesquicentennial Quarter. Opening bid was $7.99 plus $1.95 shipping. This item I catalog for $4.00 received no bids.

12/10/13

Michigan, Onaway. 1949 50th Anniversary Quarter. Mintage unknown, catalog value $5.00. This issue apparently does not come in fully struck up condition. I have never seen one with the high details on the logs and horses fully struck up, although uncirculated specimens are the norm. This one was a typical weakly struck uncirculated specimen which at $7.99 plus $1.95 shipping did not receive a bid.

12/10/13

Nebraska, Gordon. 1960 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Scarce issue I catalog for $7.50 which I was very pleased to win for the opening bid of $2.99 plus $1.99 shipping.

12/11/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1988/89 London Bridge Dollar struck in nickel-silver. Only the more common copper version available on the LHC Rotary Club website, for $15.00. This NS one is not rare, but is scarcer than the copper version. Start was 99¢ plus just $1.00 for shipping and it sold for $8.50 after 5 bids. As often happens, this was listed by the seller as a 1971 London Bridge dollar as that is the date of the bridge's arrival in Arizona, and appears on most of the LHC tokens, along with their issue and redemption dates.

12/11/13

Hawaii. 2007 Princess Kaiulani $20 Liberty Dollar. Too new to be listed in my most recent catalog. The start was 99¢ plus $3.99 shipping. Eleven bidders went after this attractive coin and it sold for $154.72. Wow - Hawaiian silver commemoratives are red-hot right now!

12/11/13

Kansas, Lane. 1976 U. S. Bicentennial Half Dollar. Catalog value $6.00, no mintage info known to me. The coin sold to a single bidder at the opening price of $4.99 plus $1.00 shipping.

12/11/13

Pennsylvania, Perry County. 1970 Sesquicentennial Souvenir Coin. Catalog $4.00, and sold to a single bidder at the $4.99 plus $1.95 opening price.

12/11/13

Montana, Virginia City. 1963 (1964) Centennial Dollar. Offered for $4.99 plus $1.95 shipping. Sold to a single bidder at that amount. My catalog value $4.00.

12/12/13

Nebraska, Beatrice. 1962 Centennial Dollar. I don't know the mintage, but I catalog these at $3.50. This example started at just $1.00 plus another dollar for postage. It drew 4 bids and sold for $2.25.

12/12/13

Johnson County (Tecumseh). 1967 Nebraska Centennial Dollar. Catalog value $4.00. Start was $1.00 plus $1.00 for postage. Three bidders pushed the price up to $2.50.

12/12/13

Nebraska, Lawrence. 1965 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Fairly easily located, I catalog these for $3.00. The one today was offered for $1 plus 1 dollar more for shipping, and it sold to a single bidder.

12/12/13

Nebraska, Norfolk. 1966 Centennial Half Dollar. Again the start was $1 plus $1, but this time there were 3 bidders and this nice piece sold for $1.50. Catalog value $4.00.

12/12/13

Nebraska, Wakefield. 1981 Centennial Half Dollar. This one is a little harder to find - I catalog it at $5.00. This one also had the $1.00 start, and that is what it sold for as there was only 1 bidder. Too cheap. If I had known, I would have been in there bidding to scoop up the bargains!

12/12/13

Nebraska, York. 1970 Centennial Dollar, unnumbered version. Catalog value $4.00. Sold for $1.00 plus an additional dollar for shipping. Come on, Nebraska MTC collectors - where are you?

12/12/13

North Dakota. 1973 Statewide Souvenir Dollar. Third in a series that lasted for 20 years. It lists for $3.50 and had a mintage of 4,000 pieces. The start price was just $1.49 and it had FREE shipping. There was just one bid, so that is what it brought. Looks like Bargain City to me!

12/12/13

South Dakota, Sioux Falls. 1960 Territorial Centennial Half Dollar. The mintage of at least 300,000 ascertains that these will be available for a good while. These come in minor varieties that I list at $2.00, $2.50, and $3.00. I don't know which variety this one was, but I guess it doesn't matter because it didn't sell. Its starting price was $3.99 plus an additional $2.86 for shipping. Nearly $7.00 is just too much for a common issue. Relisted a couple times then put into the Seller's Store, where it can still be had for the same price.

12/13/13

Colorado, Durango. Narrow Gauge Train Dollars and 2 Dollars. This lot includes 5 pieces, the 1979/80; 1980/81; 1981/82; 1982/83 (the first four years) plus issue #6 issued in 1984 and redeemed in 1985. Mintages range from 20,000 down to 5,000. Catalog values run from $4.00 to $6.50, depending on year and variety. The start for this lot was a mere 99¢ plus $3.00 shipping. After four bids they sold for $6.38 - quite a bargain! See what another seller got on the same day for a single issue of these in the next listing...

12/13/13

Colorado, Durango. 1985/86 Durango Narrow Gauge Train Two Dollars. The seventh and final year of this series (before they became non-redeemable medals). Mintage 5,000 and I catalog them at $4.50. This one started at 99¢ and drew seven bids - ending up at $11.48 plus $2.32 shipping. Remarkable in that the group of 5 sold for less than the single specimen did.

12/14/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1993/94 London bridge Dollar in .999 Fine Silver. I cataloged these 1 ounce tokens for $25.00 back when silver was $10.00 per ounce - in the next edition they will be $35.00 or $40.00. There were 500 made and they did not sell out at the issue price of $35.00. This one, still in choice proof-like condition was offered for $39.99 plus $3.00 shipping. It seemed like a good price to me, but there were no bidders.

12/14/13

California, Fort Bragg. 1966 Paul Bunyan Days Dollar. Mintage 3,000 - Catalog value $4.50. This one started off at $4.35 plus $1.99 shipping but the two bidders who were after this one were persistent. Between the two they placed 15 bids and the token ended up selling for an awesome $15.50!

12/14/13

Kansas. 1961 Centennial Coin, Centennial Bowl. One of the scarcer non-County issues. Start was $9.99 and four bids sent the selling price up to $32.88. I was the underbidder - darn!

12/14/13

Missouri, Kirkwood. 1965 Centennial Half Dollar, variety with "100" on the obverse. Catalog $4.00. Offered unsuccessfully for $6.50 plus $1.95 shipping, the seller lowered his start to $5.00 and it sold at that price two weeks later.

12/14/13

Washington, Lynden. 1991 Centennial Dollar. Mintage 20,000, catalog value $3.00. The seller put this coin up for auction at just 99¢, but with a $3.00 shipping fee. A single bidder took it for the opening price.

12/15/13

Iowa, West Des Moines. 1968 75th Anniversary Half Dollar. The starting bid was $3.95 with FREE shipping, but no bids were forthcoming. Repeatedly relisted for the next six weeks when the seller ended his listing. Eight thousand of these were made and I list them at $3.50.

12/16/13

Idaho, Ketchum-Sun Valley. 1960 Wagon Days Dollar. Only one person bid on this scarce piece at its opening price of $5.25 plus $2.32 shipping. Catalog value $7.50.

12/18/13

Hawaii. Admission Day Dollar, Queen Liliuokulani , gbr. A high mintage issue with 6,874 made, that is usually available. Offered for $22.80 with FREE shipping, there were no bids. Too much. Price lowered to $19.80 and relisted for four more weeks - still with no bids. The seller tried for one more week with a further lowered price of $17.80 and gave up by ending the auction when there were no bids. It is now available in the sellers store for $28.80 (OBO), still with that FREE shipping.

12/18/13

Oklahoma, Sand Springs. 1962 50th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Starting bid $7.00 with FREE shipping. Three bids pushed the price up a bit to $9.00. I catalog this scarce token for $7.50, and had it been in mint condition, I would have been bidding on it myself.

12/19/13

Alaska. "1878" The Last Frontier Dollar, dark oxidized nickel version with silvery 1878 Liberty Head Dollar copy on the obverse. These come in several color/metal varieties, which catalog for $10.00 each. This one sold for $9.38 plus $1.98 shipping after four bids.

12/19/13

California, San Francisco. Undated San Francisco Dollar. The seller wanted $3.95 plus $1.69 shipping, but nobody wanted it. My catalog $4.00.

12/19/13

Illinois, Cary. 1968 75th Jubilee Souvenir Coin. Somewhat scarce, this issue is not frequently encountered. Catalog value $6.00. Offered for $15.00 with a 75¢ shipping fee. No bids. It was offered for an additional two weeks until it was placed in the sellers store for the same price. As of the 17th of February it is still available for purchase.

12/19/13

Nebraska, Elgin. 1964 Diamond Jubilee Dollar. A scarce issue I list for $7.50. This was put up for bid at $4.95 + $3.00 shipping, but there were no bids. It ran until February 14 when the seller ended the listing. Somewhere along there he raised the $3.00 shipping to $4.50, but that apparently didn't make much difference. Too bad, it was a nice token.

12/19/13

Wyoming, Casper. 1964 Diamond Jubilee Dollar. Start was $4.95 plus an additional $3.00 for shipping. No bids for this $5.00 catalog item.

12/20/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1980 London Bridge Dollar. Start 99¢ plus $3.00 shipping. Two bids, sale price $1.25.

12/20/13

California, Los Angeles. 1981 Bicentennial Dollar, End of the Rainbow design, oxidized NS finish. Rare in this finish, although apparently nobody knows it. Offered for 99¢ plus $4.00 shipping I won this for just $1.04 plus shipping.

12/22/13

Hawaii, Kauai. 1976 Kauai Dollar, antique silver plate. Start price was a pretty steep $9.95 with a $3.95 shipping fee added to that. A single bidder took it.

12/22/13

Hawaii, Kona. 1980 Kona Dollar. Catalog $4.00. Offered for $6.95 plus $1.99 shipping. No bids.

11/22/13

Iowa, Creston. 1969 Centennial Half Dollar. Catalog value $3.50, mintage 10,000. This seller offered his token for $10.00 plus a mere 50¢ shipping, but no one bid because the price was just too high. Still available for purchase for $10 in the sellers store.

12/22/13

Missouri, Lee's Summit. 1965 Centennial Half Dollar - steam locomotive type. Catalog value $4.00. Starting bid $7.50 + $1.00 shipping. No bids.

12/22/13

Wisconsin, Menomonee Falls. 1967 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Starting bid was $3.95 with FREE shipping. It did not sell this week, but it did the following - to a single bidder at the same start price. The mintage of this issue was 2,500 and I catalog it for $4.00.

12/23/13

Florida. Undated (©1982) Florida Dollar, Susan B. Anthony style. Catalog $3.00. Offered for $2.00 plus $1.00 shipping. This example drew two bids and sold for $2.82.

12/24/13

Iowa, West Des Moines. 1969 75th Anniversary Half Dollar. Mintage 8,000 - catalog value $3.50. This one needed a start of $8.50 plus a dollar more for shipping. No bids this week or the next two either. Then placed in the sellers store where it can still be purchased for the same price.

12/26/13

Illinois, Carlyle. 1962 Quasquicentennial Half Dollar. Three thousand were struck, and today it catalogs for $4.00. Offered for $5.00 with FREE shipping and still available 7 weeks later for the same price, only now with a $7.50 BIN option as well.

12/26/13

Illinois, Will County (Joliet). 1961 125th Anniversary. This one catalogs for $3.00 with a mintage of 20,000 pieces. The seller wanted a $5.00 opening with FREE shipping. The current listing ends today, February 19, and I'll bet the seller lists it again.

12/26/13

Maine, Cumberland County. 1960 200th Anniversary Half Dollar. Mintage 30,000 - catalog value $1.50. This example was supposed to start at $5.00 with FREE shipping, but there were no bids. The seller relisted it many times, at the same price, and it is still available today, February 19, at the same price.

12/26/13

Michigan, Ida. 1968 Centennial Half Dollar. A not very attractive circulated example. These catalog for $3.00 in Uncirculated, and had a substantial mintage of 10,000. The opening bid was $5.00 ($7.50 BIN) and the shipping was FREE. It didn't find a buyer and is still available.

12/26/13

Missouri, North Kansas City. 1962 50th Anniversary Half Dollar. Open was $5.00 plus another dollar for postage. Mintage 5,000 - Catalog $3.50. No bids, and despite being listed repeatedly, still available on February 19th.

12/26/13

Nebraska, Lexington. 1964 Diamond Jubilee and Plum Creek Days Half Dollar. This was a circulated specimen - looks to be in extremely fine condition or so. Start was 99¢ plus $1.00 shipping and it sold after 2 bids for $1.51. Catalog - in uncirculated condition - $4.00.

12/26/13

North Dakota, Statewide. 1964 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar, goldene. Large date variety, mintage 881. Catalog value $4.50. No bids, and as I write this on February 19th, it is still available. I am going to place my bid right now - 99¢ plus $1 shipping is just too cheap for this variety.

12/26/13

Ohio, Coshocton. 1961 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. Starting bid was $5.00 ($7.50 BIN) with FREE shipping. There were no bids, and it is still available today, February 19, at the same price.

12/26/13

South Dakota, Sioux Falls. 1961 (1960) Territorial Centennial. Most common variety with COOPERATING and circles, catalog value $2.00. A minimum of 300,000 were made (including all varieties). The $14.00 start was not balanced off by the reasonable 50¢ shipping, so this one did not get a bid the first time around. However, it is still available in the seller's store if you need one really bad.

12/26/13

Vermont, Bennington. 1961 Bicentennial Half Dollar. Start $5.00 with FREE shipping. No bids. Listed for 3 more weeks with a higher $7.50 BIN price before the seller ended the listing.

12/26/13

Washington, Yakima. 1960 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Offered for $5.00 with FREE shipping. No bids. Still being relisted as of February 19th. Somewhere along the line it picked up a BIN for $7.50 option.

12/27/13

Alaska, Fairbanks. 1963 Cheechako $2.00 Grubstake. Catalog $5.00. Up for auction at $9.95 plus $3.00 shipping. No bids. Same result for 3 more weeks. Then he lowered the opening bid by one dollar but raised the postage $1.50 - and it sold!

12/27/13

Georgia, Stone Mountain. 1976 U. S. Bicentennial 20¢. Private Patrick Mint issue for L. M. Todd. One thousand of these were made and these Patrick Mint issues finally seem to be gathering some interest - after 40 years! The starting price was $2.00 plus that same amount again for postage. There were just two bids, and I was sure my $8.88 bid would do it...but no, the other bidder bid more and won it for the next increment, $9.38. Darn, I needed that one!

12/27/13

Illinois, Taylorville Christian County. 1964 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. Mintage 2,500 - catalog $4.50. Start was $9.95 plus $3.00. There were no bids this week so the seller lowered the price to $8.95 and tried for two more. Still no luck so he lowered the price to $6.95 but raised the shipping to $4.50, and it worked - he sold it to the single bidder. Same seller as the Fairbanks, Alaska above.

12/28/13

Arizona, Lake Havasu City. 1985/1986 London Bridge Dollar. Mintage was 20,000 and catalog value is $3.00. Still available from the issuer for $19.00. The starting bid was 99¢ plus $2.32 postage. There were 7 bids and it sold for $3.25.

12/28/13

Iowa, Pella. 1979 Dutch Dollar. Ninth issue in this series that has been issued annually since 1971. I catalog this year at $5.00, but this one at a start of $11.50 plus $1.50 shipping was priced just to high to entice anyone to bid. Placed in the sellers store, it is still available.

12/29/13

Arizona, Nogales. 1980 (81) Centennial Dollar. Started at $3.99 plus $1.05 shipping. This one went unsold until March 1, just exactly the day when I had decided that it was such a good buy that I had better buy it and add it to my duplicates. Catalog value $7.50 - maybe going down to $6.00.

12/29/13

California, Eastern Sierra (Inyo and Mono Counties). 1861 (1961) Souvenir Coin. There were 16,000 struck and I catalog these for $4.00. This one was available for a starting bid of $23.50 with FREE shipping. How many bids do you think it got? You're right! Over the months, the price has dropped to $15.00, but the postage has risen from FREE to $4.00. Still available in the store - now with a Make Offer option. One plus for this piece is that it still has the original descriptive folder it was sold in.

12/29/13

California, Fort Bragg. 1964 Paul Bunyan Days Dollar. Mintage 3,000. Catalog value $4.50. Put up for a starting bid of $7.99 or a BIN of $11.99 - either option with a postage charge of $2.00. There were no bids. Repeatedly listed until February 23 when the seller ended the listing. No sale.

12/29/13

Illinois, Chanute Air Force Base. 1977 60th Anniversary Dollar. The second, and scarcer of the two Chanute Air Force Base issues, I catalog this at $5.00. Sold at the opening bid of $8.99 + $1.85 shipping.

12/29/13

Illinois, Delavan. 1962 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. This one started, and ended, after only one bid, at the $4.99 plus $1.85 opening bid. I catalog this one for $3.50 but don't have a clue about how many were made.

12/29/13

Illinois, Galena. 1961 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000. Catalog Value $5.00. The start was $3.00 plus $2.00 shipping and there were four bids, with the token selling for $8.85.

12/29/13

Iowa, Creston. 1969 Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 10,000. Catalog $3.50. The starting bid for this was a currently unreasonable $10.00 plus a reasonable 50¢ postage charge. Not surprisingly, still available two months later.

12/29/13

Iowa, West Des Moines. 1968 75th Anniversary Half Dollar. This could (and still can) be had for bidding at least $10.50 plus the 50¢ (now up to 75¢) postal charge. No bids, and still available. Mintage 8,000 and catalog value $3.50.

12/29/13

Maryland, Williamsport.  1962 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar.  Catalog value $5.00, mintage unknown to me. The starting price was $4.99 plus $1.85 shipping and this piece drew only a single bid.

12/29/13

Michigan, St. Ignace. 1949 Marquette Day Quarter. I catalog these at $5.00 in the typical XF/AU condition, as this one was. In addition, the denomination seemed to have been partly ground off, perhaps as a cancellation, or maybe just random damage. It was offered for $3.95 with FREE shipping. There was one bidder who bid twice. That second bid turned out to be unnecessary as he won it at the opening price.

12/29/13

Mississippi, Booneville. 1961 Centennial Half Dollar. This attractive MTC had a mintage of just 2,500 pieces, and today catalogs at $6.50. The start was $3.99 plus $1.85 shipping. There were two bids and it sold for $6.94. A good buy, I think, and this was a really choice specimen.

12/29/13

Montana, Sidney. 1986 75th Jubilee Souvenir Dollar. Oxidized brass version, slightly circulated with edge nicks. There is a possibility that this was the more common golden brass version, darkened by circulation, but the color of the scan (if it can be trusted) looks just about like the oxidized brass version. I catalog this variety at $10.00 in uncirculated condition. This was a real bargain, selling for the opening price of $1.50 plus $2.00 shipping to a single bidder.

12/29/13

New York, Albany County. 1959 Hudson-Champlain Celebration Half Dollar. Started out at $3.99 plus $1.85 shipping. Two bids raised the selling price to $4.69. Catalog value $3.50. Mintage, a whopping 25,000 pieces.

12/29/13

Texas, Vernon. 1958 Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 4,500. Catalog value $6.50. This offering was for one of these in slightly circulated condition at a start of $7.99 plus $2.32 postage. No bids. The listing was repeated until the end of January when the listing was ended by the seller.

12/29/13

Washington, Puyallup. 1965 Half Dollar. Catalog value $3.50 with FREE shipping. Relisted until the end of January at the same rate, still without success.

12/29/13

Wisconsin, Menomonee Falls. 1967 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar. Mintage 2,500. Catalog Price $4.00. Bidding started at $3.95 with FREE shipping. There was a single bidder.

12/29/13

Wisconsin, Superior. Undated (1915) Good for a Rotarian Dinner At Superior, Wis. // On your way to Pan-Pac Exposition at San Francisco 36mm aluminum token. Really neat item, but I probably will not be listing it because it apparently is not a token intended for general use by the public. I bid on it to put in my "wannabe" collection but I was outbid by a dollar at $27.88. Start was $9.99 plus $2.25 shipping and there were 6 bids.

12/30/13

Maryland, Frederick. 1964-1965 150th Anniversary of the National Anthem Half Dollar. These Half Dollars were sold for 75¢ each at the Maryland Pavilion of the 1964 New York World's Fair. I don't know the mintage, but it must be 10,000 or more because it shows up very frequently. There are minor die varieties, but I have not been able to determine the relative scarcity of them yet - each type catalogs for just $2.50. This one was offered for a start of $1.00 plus $1.50 shipping, and that is just what it sold for to the lone bidder.

12/30/13

Maryland, Frederick County. 1962 Hagerstown Bi-Centennial Half Dollar. Gathland Civil War Correspondents Memorial variety. This comes in two types - coin orientation (up/down) and medal orientation (up/up). I can't usually tell the difference in these from photos on ebay, but because this one was in a NGC "slab" holder I could tell it was the more common up/down version, which I catalog for $2.50. The scarcer up/up version catalogs for twice that...but it is more than twice as scarce. Irregular orientations between up/up and up/down also exist. The mintage was 60,000 pieces combined. This one was graded MS65 and was offered for $31.00 plus $4.00 shipping. No one wanted to pay that much, so it spent its week on ebay without a bid. It was relisted ten times at the same price - still without a bid - before the seller decided to end the listing in mid February.

12/31/13

Illinois, Streator. 1968 Centennial Half Dollar. Mintage 2,500 - catalog value $6.00. The seller started this piece out at $8.50 plus 75¢ shipping. No bids this week. After two more tries, the piece sold to a single bidder at the opening price.

12/31/13

Kansas, Brookville. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar. The starting price was set at a start of $6.99 with FREE shipping. No bids. The seller then raised the price to $9.99 and placed it in his store, where it still can be had today. Catalog value $4.50.

12/31/13

Kansas, Ottawa County (Minneapolis). 1966 Centennial Half Dollar. The seller started this at $8.95 plus 99¢ shipping. No bids - and it is still available nearly two months later. I catalog it at $3.50, its mintage is just 2,500.

12/31/13

Minnesota, St. Charles. 1960 Golden Jubilee of Winona County Fair Half Dollar. Offered for a steep $16.00, this $7.50 catalog item turned out to be a very nice surprise. As I was typing this up I noticed that this was a variety I had not been aware of. Below the denomination on the reverse there were two lines of information: AT THE FAIRGROUNDS / AUGUST 4-7, 1960. The one I had in my collection had three lines: AT THE FAIRGROUNDS / ST. CHARLES, MINN. / AUGUST 4-7, 1960. At the moment I don't know which variety is scarcer. I'll have to check to see if I have any duplicates and check with some other collectors to see which types they have. When the next one shows up on ebay (which probably won't be for quite a while, as this was the first of these I have seen since I started these monthly journals) I will post my findings. Best of all, as I followed this item which did not sell that first week, it turned out to still be available as of February 28, and I was able to buy it from the sellers store for $16.00! Made my day!

12/31/13

Missouri, North Kansas City. 1962 50th Anniversary Half Dollar. Mintage 5,000. Catalog value $3.50. The start was $6.99 with FREE shipping. No bids. The price was raised up to $9.99 and it has been on ebay ever since. Still available on March 1st.

12/31/13

Montana, McCone County. 1964 Territorial Centennial Half Dollar. The seller said it was circulated, but the photo made it look pretty nice. Not rare, but they don't show up every day, so I catalog them at $4.50. This one priced at $2.00 plus another two bucks for shipping sold to a single bidder.

12/31/13

Montana, Northeast Division. 1964 Territorial Centennial Dollar. Catalog value $5.00. Offered for $4.99 plus $2.50 shipping, but there was no interest. Relisted until the end of January when the seller ended the listing without getting a bid.

12/31/13

Oregon, Canby. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar. This one is a little scarce - I value it at $4.50 - but apparently it was not tempting to anyone at the sellers start of $9.00 plus another dollar for shipping. No bids. Still available in the Sellers Store for the same amount.

12/31/13

Washington, Deer Park. 1970 Harvest Ball $1.50 Admittance token. There were 11 issues for the 1970 Deer Park Fair, and last time around the collectors were prettily evenly divided on whether they should be listed. I compromised by listing this one token which mentioned a specific, perhaps yearly, event in conjunction with the fair. The others were simply tokens meant to be spent at the concessions. I figured maybe some people would want to attend the annual Harvest Ball, even if they Fair itself did not interest them. I don't know if it will make it into the next edition. Catalog value $3.50. Mintage - just a guess - probably not over 500. This one, which was lightly used (I hope they had fun at the Ball!) was listed for $2.00 plus $1.00 shipping, but there were no bids.

12/31/13

Washington, Seattle. 1962 World's Fair Dollar. Very common, cataloging $1.50 - sharing the lowest priced MTC honors with Cumberland County, Maine and the Burlington, Vermont / Ticonderoga, New York issue. This one was at a $3.00 start plus $2.00 shipping. No bids
