6/3/20

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  Slabbed by NGC and assigned a MS-65 grade.  Start $26.99 with FREE shipping.  A single bidder placed two bids and won it for the opening price.

6/3/20

Montana.  1964 Territorial $50 Slug.  NGC MS-65.  Start $45.99 with FREE shipping.  Nobody bought it the first time around, so the seller tried again with a lower $40.99 start, but but with the addition of a $4.75 postal charge.  This time somebody wanted it, bid twice, and won it for the opening bid.

6/3/20

Nebraska, Gordon.  1960 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Nice enough and cheap enough to interest me for my duplicate box, so I bid and won it for the starting bid.  For the week ending June 26 the seller offered another one, with the same starting bid, but also offered a $4.00 Buy It Now option.  This time I didn’t bid, and neither did anyone else, so the seller ended his listing unsold after just a single week.

6/3/20

New York, Ticonderoga.  1964 Bicentennial Half Dollar.  Probably Uncirculated, but with many bag marks, especially on the front.  Sold to a single bidder for the $2.25 plus 95¢ start.

6/3/20

Ohio, Whitehouse.  1964 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $4.99 plus $3.25 shipping.  Still available on the same terms 2 months later.  The current listing ends on August 12.

6/3/20

Wyoming, Buffalo.  1984 Souvenir Dollar.  Start $7.95 plus $1.09 shipping.  After eight weeks, when it seemed nobody wanted to bid that much, the seller made it a Buy It Now item for the lowered the price of $6.95 plus $1.09.

6/4/20

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  Start $2.50 plus $1.00 for postage.  After two bids by two bidders it sold for $3.82.

6/4/20

Montana, West Yellowstone.  1981 Yellowstone Rendezvous Dollar.  This was a very nice uncirculated example that I was surprised to note did not receive a bid at its reasonable $3.00 plus $1.75 start.  It was not relisted.  Another one by a different seller had an ending date two days later.  The start on that one was $3.00 plus $4.25 shipping.  It sold to a single bidder for the opening price.

6/4/20

Nebraska, Waverly.  1970 Centennial Dollar.  Antiqued brass, numbered 655.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.50.  I was surprised to notice that this is the first of these that I have listed.  While this example is numbered, that is the way they all came.  Start $12.95 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids, so the seller made it a BIN item at the same price and stuck it in his Ebay store - where it remains available in early August.

6/5/20

Hawaii, Maui.  1992-2016 Maui Dalas, one for each year.  Described as “silver” but these were the regular issues nickel-silver issues.  Start $99.99 plus $9.95 shipping.  Still available for the same start two months later.  The current listing ends August 6.

6/6/20

Alaska, North Pole.  Undated (1966) Eighth Annual Rodeo Cold Buck in Golden Brass.  The edge was not described or pictured, so I will assume this is the un-numbered version.  It was priced too high for either version anyway - $19.99 with FREE shipping.  It lasted through another 10 day listing as a Buy It Now item, and then was ended “because the item is no longer available”.

6/6/20

Wisconsin, Stoughton.  1976 U.S. Bicentennial 30¢ Private Issue of the Yahara Trading Company.  Start $6.99 (BIN $9.29) with FREE shipping.  The Buy It Now option lasted through only the first week, but the token continued to be available as a $6.99 start action item until July 29 when the listing was ended unsold.

6/7/20

6/7/20

Kentucky, Henderson.  1960 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Extremely Fine, edge knocks, and partially holed.  Mintage 1,000.  Catalog value $8.50.  The start was $4.99 plus $3.50 postage.  After 5 bids by 3 bidders it brought $13.60.  Based on that, and the fact that this is the first example of this issue I have seen on ebay since starting these lists, the catalog value is probably going up to $10.00.

6/7/20

Minnesota, Virginia.  1958 Minnesota Centennial Iron Nickel.  Described by the seller as “Choice Brilliant Uncirculated+, DMPL”.  Sold to a single bidder for the $20.00 plus $4.50 opening bid.

6/9/19

West Virginia.  1963 Centennial Dollar in Golden Brass.  Reflective sky.  Start $6.99 plus $4.20.  There were 8 bids by 5 bidders and it sold for $21.99.  I bid $21.88 to try to pick it up as a duplicate, but lost out to someone else who bid 11¢ more than me.  Rats!

6/10/20

New York, New York City.  1909 Hudson-Fulton Exposition Henry Hudson Daalder.  The small “Gold Dollar size” So-Called Dollar, HK-374.  NGC graded this piece MS-61.  The piece shows wear on the forehead, nose and mustache, numerous light scratches, and even several edge nicks - which are pretty unusual on a tiny light weight aluminum coin like this.  Also unusual is that it was graded MS-61.  This token is used and abused, and it makes me wonder why it can still be regarded as “Mint State”.  This example sold to a single bidder for the opening bid of $99.95 plus $4.20 shipping.

6/10/20

Michigan, Traverse City.  1947 Centennial Quarter.  Extremely Fine, holed as all are.  Start $1.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  No bids.  Not relisted.

6/11/20

Vermont.  2020 Republic of Vermont Silver Clad Hexagonal $20.00.  Proof.  Mintage just 170 pieces.  A previously unlisted coin that seems to merit inclusion in the catalog.  I had noticed this available from another source for $19.95, so when this one became available at a $14.95 plus $3.95 start I bid and won it for the opening price.  Just a novelty, really, but quite attractive.

6/12/20

North Dakota.  1971-1980 North Dakota Dollars, the 10 regular issues, plus two extra “error” medals.  Housed in a heavy plastic display case.  Start $75.00 plus $11.50 shipping.  No bids, but when offered again the following week starting at just $50.00, it sold to a single bidder.

6/13/20

6/13/20

6/13/20

6/15/19

North Dakota, Kenmare.  1972 75th Anniversary Dollar struck in Nickel Silver.  Extremely Fine Condition.  Start $4.00 plus 99¢ shipping.  For the listing ending August 4, the start was lowered to $2.99.  Still no bids so the seller tried a $1.99 plus 99¢ start.  That did the trick, because it sold, to a single bidder, for the opening bid.

6/15/20

North Dakota, Zap.  1976 U.S. Bicentennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $4.69 with FREE shipping start.

Montana, Wolf Point.  1975 Montie Montana / Assinaboine Sioux Dollar.  Start $4.95 ($6.95 Buy It Now) plus an incredible $8.00 shipping charge.  It was being shipped from Canada, but other Canadian sellers are able to offer much more reasonable shipping charges.  No bids for a month, but it did sell to a single bidder during the week ending July 18.

6/18/20

Indiana, Elkhart.  1958 Centennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start 85¢ with FREE shipping.  There were 3 bids placed by 2 bidders and the token sold for $1.29.

Hawaii, Molokai.  1976 Molokai Dollar.  Start $100.00 plus $3.50 shipping.  This one lasted until the week ending July 15 when it sold to a single bidder for the opening price.  For some reason these Molokai Dollars usually bring high prices, but they are not rare tokens.  If it was actually rare it would not have taken nearly a month to sell it.  Hard to find, yes, and certainly popular, but there are many hundreds of municipal tokens that are much rarer and sell for less than one tenth of what this one brought.

6/21/20

Hawaii.  1988 Hawaiian Scenic Series Dala #3, Whale Watching at Lahaina - original distant view of breaching whale.  There were only 300 of these produced before the issuer decided to feature the whale more prominently, and had 2,500 examples made with a closer view of the whale.  The seller incorrectly described this as having a mintage of 2,500 pieces and offered it for $85.00 plus $3.50 shipping.  It remains available more than two months later at the same starting price.  This token is an interesting contrast to the Molokai Dollar, offered by the same seller, described directly above.  The Molokai piece was made of brass and sold for $100.00, while this one with an intrinsic value of $25.00 or more for the ounce of silver it contains - and with a much lower mintage - has not yet found a bidder.

6/21/20

6/21/20

Michigan, Vicksburg.  1948 Frontier Days Quarter.  Condition just Very Fine, maybe close to Extremely Fine.  Start $19.95 plus $2.65.  After 5 bids by two bidders, it sold for a remarkable $44.00!  Another example of a worn MTC bringing much more than a much nicer example would.

6/22/20

Hawaii, Kaui.  1973 Kauai Dollar in golden brass.  Two pairs of equally-sized petroglyphs at either side of the shrine.  Numbered (2917) on panel below the “Sleeping Giant”.  One side heavily spotted from the foam insert in the snap-lock coin case it was originally housed in, and both sides cleaned and polished in an attempt to remove the damage.  Start $5.00 plus $3.18 shipping.  There were no bids the first week, and the sale was ended by the seller an hour and a half into its second week because “the item is no longer available”.

Pennsylvania, Dallastown.  1966 Centennial Half Dollar struck in Golden Brass.  Start $4.95 plus $2.95.  Still available as a BIN item for the same price two months later.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $3.50.  The Golden Brass and Nickel Silver varieties of this issue are not especially scarce, but keep your eyes out for the aluminum variety, which is much more elusive.

6/25/20

Pennsylvania, Duncannon.  1965 Centennial Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $5.00.  Start $4.95 plus $2.95 shipping.  Still available as a Buy It Now item in the Sellers Store for the same price two months later.
