New York, New York City.  1909 Hudson-Fulton Exposition Hendrik Hudson Daalder.  Gold.  Graded MS-66 by PCGS.  Start $3499.95 with FREE shipping.  After 3 weeks as an auction item it came back at the same price, but now Buy It Now.  Just as a note of interest...Many of you know I work for a very large and well known numismatic auction firm.  By chance, just as I was preparing this listing for posting, we sold one of these pieces at public auction at the American Numismatic Association convention in Philadelphia.  It was a nice example, graded an even finer MS-67 by PCGS.  Sale price? $960 plus the customary 20% "buyer's premium" charged at these large sales.  Food for thought.

Looks like I’ll be waiting a while - on June 18 another piece by the same seller brought $15.49 after 11 bids by 7 bidders.

6/10/18

Hawaii, Molokai.  1992 Fiftieth Anniversary of the 100th Infantry Battalion One Puka Puka.  Some MTC collectors collect this because it commemorates the anniversary of the battalion, and has a denomination, “One Puka Puka”.  However One Puka Puka is not a denomination - it was, I am told, the nickname of the 100th Battalion.  There was not a word for “zero” in the original Hawaiian language, so “puka” which meant a hole, a door or a space was used. One Puka Puka = 1 0 0.  I won’t be listing this, but if I ever find one close to the silver value (this one was not), I’ll at least bid on it to put it in my wannabe MTC collection.  Not very scarce.  This one numbered 158 on the edge had a start of $39.50 plus $3.50, and no one bid.

6/10/18

6/10/18

Oregon, Baker County.  2000 Baker County Bucks $2.00, set in Golden Brass and Gold Plate in case of issue.  Originally set for a $9.99 plus $3.75 start, there were no bids until the start was  lowered to $4.99.  That did the trick and on July 1, the lot sold for $21.63 after 6 bids by 3 bidders.

6/10/18

Pennsylvania, New Oxford.  1974 Souvenir Centennial Coin.  Start $8.00 plus $2.80 shipping.  There have been no bids, and the item is still available, now at a lowered starting bid of $6.00 with the current listing ending on July 29.

6/11/18

Kansas.  1961 Official Centennial Coin for Barton County.  The start probably 99¢, with postage $2.99 more (based on similar items currently being sold).  There were 8 bids by an unknown number of bidders, and it ended up selling for  $8.00.  When you click on the item, Ebay notes that it has been sold, and offers another one.  This one a BIN item for significantly less:  $2.89 plus $2.65 shipping.  That listing ends on August 13.

6/15/18

Indiana, Wabash.  1955 Diamond Jubilee Dime.  Thick Cardboard.  Extremely Fine.  Unknown mintage.  Not previously cataloged. I was the only bidder at the $3.00 plus $2.05 start.  Looks like a wooden nickel, but cardboard, so listable.

6/15/18

Kansas, Newton.  1961 Kansas Centennial Half Dollar.  Opening bid $4.99 plus $1.99 shipping.  Still available, but now you can bid starting at $3.50 or Buy It Now for $4.99.  The current listing ends on  August 2.

6/16/18

Montana, West Yellowstone.  1979 Trade Dollar.  About uncirculated - looks cleaned.  Start $4.99 plus $3.50 postage.  Listed at the same price until July 29 with no bids, then ended by seller.

6/17/18

Montana.  Undated Buffalo Dollar, Gold Plated version.  Start $5.55.  Postage $3.45.  It sold for $6.50 after just 2 bids.

6/17/18

Nevada.  1964 Service Club Centennial Coin.  The usual antique bronze version,  Start was just $4.00 with FREE shipping.  After two weeks it was made a BIN item at $6.00, and someone bought it!

6/17/18

Oregon.  1980 Oregon Dollar.  Susan B. Anthony size and style.  Mintage 7,500, reportedly later increased to 12,000.  Catalog value $2.50.  This one had a $7.25 plus $1.20 start and failed to find a buyer.  The seller then lowered the starting bid to $6.95, but ended the listing on June 25 because “there was an error in the listing”.

6/18/18

Minnesota, Chisholm.  1958 Minnesota Centennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder at the $3.00 plus $2.75 start.

6/18/18

North Dakota, Minot.  1961 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Start $6.99 with FREE shipping.  After a couple unsuccessful weeks at this price, the cost was lowered to $3.99, and when nobody bid, the seller ended the listing unsold.

6/18/18

Oregon, Astoria.  1961 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  The start was $4.99 with FREE shipping.  One guy bid $6.00, and another fellow bid twice after that, winning it for a single increment over the first bidder - $6.50.

6/19/18

Hawaii.  2007 King Kamehameha $20 Liberty Dollar.  Available for $131.05 plus $23.30 postage (converted from Australian Dollars).  The seller has two of these, they both are scheduled to end on September 9.

6/19/18

Iowa, Gowrie. 1970 Centennial Half Dollar. Start $4.95.  It was relisted, but Ebay won’t tell how many times, for how much it sold for, or even if it ever sold.  All I know is that it is not currently listed.  The postage charge was probably $2.66 because that is what the seller is currently charging for other single coins.

6/20/18

California, Santa Catalina Island.  1993 Catalina Island Trade Dollar.  This was the original issue, with the uprights incorrectly extended above the roof of the casino.  Mintage 5,000.  Catalog value $4.00.  This example started at $16.99 plus $3.00 shipping, this relatively common piece brought $20.50 after 6 bids by just 2 bidders.  A week later, another example from the same seller sold for the opening bid of $16.99 - probably to the guy who didn’t win this week.  They both paid too much!  The same seller offered another one for the same price for a sale ending July 5.  Again it sold, and again to a single bidder.  I wondered if the same buyer bought all three.  Unfortunately, this seller utilizes the “private listing” option - Ebay will not even tell you the buyer’s feedback.  I wonder why, kih3i2u?  Another one sold to a single bidder on July 8.  The same picture has been used each time.  Do you think they are really selling, or is he just trying to create a market?

6/20/18

Hawaii.  1984 Queen Liliuokalani Admission Day Dala in Silver.  Ebay will not reveal the starting bid,but it sold for $22.50 after 10 bids by an unknown number of bidders.  The postage was likely to have been $4.00 because that is what the seller is currently charging for similar items.

6/20/18

Iowa, Pella.  1978 Dutch Dollar.  Start $7.55.  Postage $2.90.  Its price stayed the same as it continued to be offered until July 1, when the seller ended the listing because “the item is no longer available”.

6/21/18

Indiana, Attica.  1966 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $8.00.  Postage probably $2.80, based on items currently offered by the same seller.  Ebay says it was relisted, but no longer will disclose any details about what happened next.  Who knows - At this price it was quite unlikely to sell, but it would be nice to see if it finally sold after price reductions.  Thanks Ebay.

6/21/18

Michigan, Harbor Springs.  1950 Ottowa Indian Capital Quarter.  Lustrous About Uncirculated condition - not unusual for this piece.  Sold to a single bidder at the $12.50 plus $3.50 opening bid.

6/21/18

Nebraska, Wakefield.  1981 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $2.49 plus $2.99.  No bids.  Offered one more week, still with no bids, before the seller ended his lot unsold.

6/21/18

Pennsylvania, Coatesville.  1967 Centennial Half Dollar struck in silver.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $17.50.  I don’t know if these are actually struck in silver, as they are unmarked, but they are very nicely produced and quite scarce - this being the first to appear on Ebay (that I have noticed, of course) since I started these postings 5 1/2 years ago.  Scarce or not, nobody but me wanted it at the $12.99 plus $4.00 start.  I’d love to buy a dozen more at this price!

6/22/18

California, Vernon.  Vernon Country Club Days of ’49 Buck.  About Uncirculated.  Start $15.00 plus $3.00 shipping.  It sold for $30.99 after 5 bids by 4 bidders.

6/23/18

Alaska, (Valdez).  Undated Trans Alaska Pipeline Good for $10.00 of Affection at Yukon Sal’s Massage Parlor.  Probably not listable - it mentions the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline, but apparently does not actually commemorate anything.  Many of the massage parlor tokens sold on Ebay are outright fantasy pieces, but this one could easily be real.  It was cheap enough to bid on, so I did, and won it for the opening bid of $3.84 plus $1.54.

6/23/18

Montana, Billings.  1968 Midland Empire State Fair Dollar in Proof-like Nickel Silver.  Still in Franklin Mint display easel.  Start $2.50 plus $2.99.  No bids.  The next week it came back as a Buy It Now item for $2.75 plus $2.99.  When this price increase didn’t sell the coin, the seller ended his listing.  I wonder why he didn’t add another quarter and try again?

6/23/18

Pennsylvania, Littlestown.  1965 Bicentennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start 95¢ plus $3.25.  The second bidder - who placed a third bid which was not necessary - won it for $1.12.

6/24/18

6/24/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2000 Maui Dollar.  Mintage 140,000.  Catalog value $2.50. Start $9.99 plus $3.33 shipping.  No bids, but ebay says it was relisted - they won’t disclose for how much or even if it eventually sold or not.

6/24/18

Illinois, Braidwood.  1965 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $7.95 plus, apparently, $3.75.  About Uncirculated.  Looks like this was listed for just a single week, since it is not noted to have been sold and there is no mention that it was relisted.

6/24/18

Kansas.  1961 Official Centennial Coin for Rush County.  Unknown mintage.  Not previously listed individually.  Rush County is scarcer than average, but not rare.  Offered for $8.99 plus $2.75.  No bids this week, but on its second week a single bidder took it home fir the opening bid.

6/24/18

New York.  Springville.  1984 SesquiCentennial Dollars, lot of 3 pieces.  I was the only bidder for this lot at the $6.00 plus $2.50 start.  Guess they are not rare anymore!

6/25/18

This listing ends on August 19.

6/26/18

Michigan, Upper Peninsula.  Undated Upper Peninsula Dollar.  Common version with eagle on shield.  Start?  Just $96.99 plus $5.00 shipping.  Sure hope no one bought this one - Can’t tell though.   All Ebay will say is that it was relisted.  The seller no longer is listing this item, so who knows!

6/27/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2009 Maui Dollar.  With original Certificate of Authenticity.  There were no bids at its reasonable $2.00 start, but Ebay would not disclose the postage charges or whether it was relisted.  All I know is that it did not sell on its first week on Ebay and is no longer available.  Ebay is becoming a pain in the rear to work with.

6/28/18

California, San Diego.  1935 California Pacific International Exposition Dime.  Original, unaltered version - much scarcer as such.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $10.00.  Extremely Fine, but with some green verdigris on both sides.  Offered for $29.99 plus $2.95.  Despite a whopping $1.00 reduction in price, it remains available with the current listing set to end on August 28.

6/28/18

Ohio, Berea.  1986 Sesquicentennial Coin with the obverse of an 1836 Half Dollar (which figured into the naming of the city back in 1836) and the reverse depicting a grindstone.  Not spendable, but since it pictures a half dollar design on one side, probably listable.  I list some similar pieces as half dollars which depict Confederate Half Dollar motifs, so why not one with a U. S. Half Dollar on one side?  I was the only bidder at the $5.99 plus $3.01 start.

6/29/18

California, Santa Catalina Island.  1989 Santa Catalina Trade Dollars, lot of 4 pieces.  The start was $5.00 with FREE shipping.  After 15 bids by 2 bidders the lot sold for $20.00.

6/29/18

6/29/18

New Jersey, Point Pleasant Beach.  1961 Diamond Jubilee Big Sea Days Half Dollar.  This scarcer token was a nice Uncirculated piece, priced right at $5.00 plus $3.50, but no one bid and it was not relisted.

6/29/18

Oregon, Myrtle Creek.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the opening price of $15.00 plus $3.50.

6/29/18

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 U. S. SesquiCentennial Treasure island Doubloon.  The seller said it was “Bright Uncirculated”.  It may well have been uncirculated, but it had been polished so much it was hard to tell.  It was bright, I’ll give him that!  Starting bid $19.75 plus $3.25 shipping.  Listed a couple weeks before someone spotted and bid twice - winning it for the opening price on July 15.

6/30/18

Kansas, Beloit.  1961 Kansas Centennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $8.99 with FREE shipping opening bid.

6/30/18

New York, Rensselaer County (Troy).  1966 150th / 175th Anniversaries Half Dollar.  Very choice example.  Start was just 95¢ and postage $3.25 more.  No bids.  After two more weeks a couple bidders spotted it and each bid one time.  Sale price $1.25.

6/30/18
