MTCs on Ebay February 2018

2/1/18

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  Graded MS-65 and encapsulated by NGC.  The start was $22.99 plus $4.00.  There were no bids, and the item was not rellsted.  This one was called “STATEHOOD SOUVENIR” - an improvement over the one noted last month.

2/1/18

California, Paradise-Magalia.  1963 Gold Nugget Celebration Half Dollar.  Extremely Fine condition, with the golden plating all worn off.  Start 95¢ plus $2.95 shipping.  I won it as the second bidder for just $1.00 plus the shipping.  Cheap for this scarce date!

2/1/18

Hawaii, Maui.  1992 Maui Trade Dollar said to be struck in brass.  I have not seen or heard of this token in brass, but the $49.99 with FREE shipping seemed too much to gamble.  I suppose it could be the gold plated issue, or even one that was privately gold plated as it looks much more golden than brassy.  No toning at all, just bright golden color except some tiny areas on the dolphin and on the rim that look like maybe some plating is flaking off.  It is still available for $49.95, but now as a Buy It Now item, and recently there has been a Make Offer option as well.  The current listing ends on April 3.

2/1/18

Michigan, Grayling (Camp Grayling).  1949 Annual Canoe Championship Quarter.  Extremely Fine.  Start $13.50.  Shipping $3.00.  No bids.  It came back the following week at a $12.50 start, but when nobody bid this week either, the seller ended his listing.

2/2/18

Michigan, Holland.  1950 Tulip Time Quarter.  Extremely Fine.  This has been available for a while now at a starting bid of $7.99 plus $3.00 shipping.  For the listing ending March 4, it was made a BIN item at the same cost.  Then at the end of the following week the listing was ended by the seller because there was “ an error in the listing”.

2/2/18

Arizona, Nogales.  1980 (1981) Centennial Trade Dollar.  Start $2.99 plus 75¢ shipping.  I was pleased to be the only bidder for this surprisingly hard-to-find Trade Dollar.

2/3/18

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  1972 London Bridge Dollar.  The first year of issue in very choice uncirculated condition.  Start $5.00 plus $2.80 shipping.  After 3 bids by 2 bidders it sold for $7.50.

2/3/18

2/3/18

2/3/18

Iowa, Emmetsburg.  Set of 7 issues, 1967 to 1972.  The series started in 1966.  The 1968 issue was circulated - the others nice Uncs.  Sold to a single bidder at the $15.55 plus $4.25 starting bid.

2/3/18

Oklahoma, Weatherford.  1973 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated - Uncirculated.  Start $22.50 with FREE shipping.  After two weeks it went up a bit to $22.75.  Then after two more weeks, down to $21.61.  When that did not work, it became a BIN item at $21.90 and then the listing was ended by the seller on March 8 because “the item is no longer available”.  EXCEPT that the exact same token from the same seller re-appeared a few days later priced at $23.23 BIN.  That listing is set to end on April 18.

2/3/18

Washington, Goldendale.  1972 Centennial Dollar.  Start $7.55.  Postage $2.90.  Listed another week as an auction item, then made a BIN at the same price.  That listing was ended on February 15 without a sale.

2/4/18

Alaska.  1962 Alaska Boosters Souvenir Money $5.00 with Walrus in oxidized brass.  The seller noted that he had never seen anything but the $1.00 token like this with the image of a moose, and that may have helped the sale of this piece.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $4.00.  Start was $11.99 plus $3.00 shipping. This one sold for a remarkable $60.00 after 7 bids by just 2 bidders.  Two of those bids were extra bids placed by the winning bidder in case he was outbid.

2/4/18

2/4/18

California, Eastern Sierra (Inyo and Mono Counties).  (1961) Centennial Coin.  Start $8.95 plus $2.75 shipping.  After a week it became a Buy It Now item at the same cost, and has been available in the two months that have passed since then.

2/4/18

Hawaii, Maui.  Maui Trade Dollar set in folder, Series 2, 1997 - 2001.  Folder numbered 03647.  Offered for a starting bid of $25.00 with FREE shipping.  After two weeks the start was lowered to just $1.00 - but it turned out that the seller had a reserve of $20.00.  A single bidder won it at the opening price.  Ebay suggest a couple more of these sets which were still available, one at $44.99 and the other at $59.99, both with FREE shipping.  In case anyone is keeping track, these were sets #07387 and 09580.

2/4/18

Kansas, Leavenworth.  1969 and 1970 Buffalo Bill Cody Days Dollars.  This pair of tokens looked so nice that I thought there was a good chance that they were the Sterling Silver issues - so I bid and won them as the second bidder after their $10.00 plus $3.00 start.  They ended up costing me $12.61 plus postage for the pair.  Unfortunately, they also ended up being really nice examples of the nickel-silver regular issues.  Too bad - sometimes you win, sometimes you loose!

2/4/18

Wisconsin, Fon Du Lac.  1936 Fon Du Lac Centennial Dime - Private issue for the Valin Camera Shop.  About Uncirculated.  Buy It Now at $7.95 plus $2.75 shipping.  Still available as of March 26.

2/4/18

Wisconsin, Fon Du Lac.  1948 Wisconsin Centennial Dime - Private issue for the Valin Camera Shop.  Uncirculated.  Start was $19.99 plus $3.00 shipping.  Listed for 3 weeks with no bids, so the start was dropped significantly to $9.99, and the postage went down a penny to $2.99.  Listed until the 18th of March with no bid, and then the seller ended the listing unsold.

2/5/18

Kansas, Coffeyville.  1958 Interstate Fair and Rodeo Quarter.  About Uncirculated.  Start $6.95 plus $2.75 shipping.  After a couple weeks it became a BIN item at the same cost, and is still available two months later.

2/6/18

Iowa, Eldridge.  1971 Centennial Coin.  Sold to a single bidder at the opening of $6.99 with FREE shipping.

2/6/18

Nevada.  1980 Nevada Dollar, Susan B. Anthony Dollar Size.  Mintage 10,000.  Catalog value $2.50.  Sold to a single bidder at the $3.99 plus $3.50 starting bid.

2/7/18

Arizona, Prescott.  Undated Frontier Days 31mm (50 Bucks) Uniface Aluminum Anillo Restrike.  Extremely Fine.  I catalog these Anillo restrikes for $3.50 each.  Start 99¢ plus $2.75 shipping.  Sold to the second bidder for $1.25.

2/7/18

Hawaii, Honolulu.  1992 Honolulu Dala.  Start was $19.00 and postage $4.00 more.  After 4 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $22.50.

2/7/18

Hawaii.  1990 Royal Hawaiian Trade Dollar.  Private issue for the Royal Hawaiian Mint.  The seller said it was good for $100.00 in trade two times in his description.  Start $8.75.  Postage $3.50.  Sold to the second bidder at $9.25.

2/7/18

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 Sesquicentennial Treasure Island Doubloon.  Nearly XF condition.  Start $18.75 plus $3.25 postage.  It sold for $31.50 after 4 bids by 2 bidders.  Pretty steep for a relatively common coin!

2/8/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2006 Maui Trade Dollar.  Proof-Like one that came from a mint set.  Offered for 99¢ plus $3.49 shipping.  There were no bids and the listing was ended after just one week.  I note that Ebay suggests another one in slightly circulated condition that is available for $10.00 with FREE shipping.

2/8/18

Nebraska, Beatrice.  1962 First Homestead Centennial Dollar.  Start $22.50 with FREE shipping.  No bids, of course.  The next week the price dropped to $22.26, then $21.15, and then $20.82.  On March 8 the listing was ended because “the item is no longer available” - but it came right back anyway, for $20.82.  You can still buy it if you want it, but under ‘More chances to get what you want”, two other sellers were offering this token for $10.00 with FREE shipping - which is still much more than it is worth.

2/9/18

Michigan, Upper Peninsula.  Upper Peninsula Dollar - Eagle on Shield Variety.  The start was $26.00 with FREE shipping.  When the item did not sell, a couple price adjustments were made - first up to $26.20, and then to $26.37.  On March 8 the listing was ended because “the item is no longer available”.  It reappeared right away anyway, this time with the start up to $28.35.  That ought to do the trick, don’t you think?

2/9/18

Oklahoma, Weatherford.  1973 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Start $22.50, $22.75$21.61, and for the week ending March 8, when it had a $21.90 BIN ptive the item was marked as unavailable because “the item is no longer available”.  However, it did come right back, with its start pushed up a bit to $23.23.  Still available.

2/10/18

Colorado, Delta.  1982 Centennial Dollar.  Opening bid was $13.50 with FREE shipping.  It is still being listed at the same bid, with the current listing set to end on April 23.

2/10/18

Hawaii, Maui.  1996 Maui Trade Dollar Struck in Silver.  Mintage reported at 2,500.  Catalog value $20.00.  Sold for its $49.95 plus $3.00 BIN price.  The edge lettered, in 2 separate blank segments on an otherwise reeded edge:  1OZ.  .999 AG and 347.  Three line undated reverse inscription.

2/10/18

Nebraska, Schuyler.  170 Centennial Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.50, but probably going up a little in the next edition.  Sold to a single bidder at the $12.99 plus $3.00 opening bid.

2/10/18

Oklahoma, Del City.  1976 U. S. Bicentennial Dime.  Private issue by Del Ford.  Eagle on Shield.  About Uncirculated.  Start $6.50 plus $2.75.  There were no bids and the seller eventually made it a BIN item at the same cost.  It lasted until April 10 when the listing was terminated “because there was an error in the listing”.

2/11/18

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Alaska Statehood Dollar.  Slabbed by NGC and graded MS-65.  A pretty nice coin.  Sold to a single bidder for the opening bid of $16.99 with FREE shipping.  Ebay suggested another one, also graded MS-65 by NGC, that could (and still can) be had for $54.50 BIN, also with FREE shipping.  One of the 5 most easily obtainable MTCs.

2/11/18

California, Catalina Island.  1979 Catalina Island Film Festival One Doubloon / Dollar.  Solt to a single bidder at the $4.95 plus $3.50 opening bid.

2/11/18

Colorado.  1959 Fort Morgan Rush To The Rockies Half Dollar Uniface Obverse.  A So-Called Dollar, HK-544.  Slabbed and graded MS-64 by NGC.  Friction removing some of the gold coloration on the blank reverse, and a very obvious corrosion spot on the obverse.  How this got graded MS-64 I’ll never know!  The start was $79.00 with FREE shipping.  After 7 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $122.50.  A scarce MTC.

2/11/18

Illinois, Franklin Park.  1967 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Start $5.55 plus $2.90.  No bids.  The following week it was made a BIN item for slightly less - $4.61.  When no one bid that week the item was ended unsold.

2/11/18

Illinois, Ottawa (LaSalle County Farm Bureau).  1964 125th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Available at an opening bid of $5.55 plus $2.90.  After a month it became a BIN item at the same price, and then ended unsold a week later when no one bid.

2/11/18

Iowa, Westside.  1969 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $5.55.  Postage $2.90.  There were no bids and the item was not relisted because the “the item is no longer available”.

2/11/18

Michigan, Upper Peninsula.  Undated Upper Peninsula Dollar.  Start $9.99 plus $3.50 postage.  There were 3 bids by two bidders and it sold for $11.01.  The following day another example by a different seller - this one in an ugly XF/AU condition with dark spots on both sides - sold for $16.90 after 6 bids by 4 bidders and a $9.99 plus $2.69 start.  It always surprises me when this very common token sells for “big” prices!

2/11/18

Oklahoma, Burns Flat.  1949 Drawing Dime.  Extremely Fine / About Uncirculated.  Start $15.00 plus $2.75 shipping.  The next week it became a Buy It Now item at the same price.  There were no bids and the seller ended the listing because “there was an error in the listing”.

2/11/18

Oklahoma, Burns Flat.  1949 Drawing Quarter.  About Uncirculated.  Start $14.95 plus $2.75 shipping.  The next week it became a Buy It Now item at the same price.  There were no bids and the lot was ended unsold.

2/12/18

Wyoming, Cheyenne.  Undated Frontier Days Buck in very choice AU/UNC condition.  Hard to find in fully Uncirculated condition, this one was better than most, and it may well be worth the $9.95 plus $1.50 shipping it sold for to the single bidder.

2/13/18

North Dakota, Rolla.  1963 75th Anniversary Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start was $9.99 plus $2.95 shipping.  No one bid that first week, so the seller converted it to aBIN item at the same cost.  It lasted nearly two months, until March 10, when the listing was ended by the seller “because there was an error in the listing”.

2/14/18

Nebraska, Chadron.  1960 75th Anniversary Half Dollar in Silver plate.  Spotty Uncirculated.  The start was $7.70 plus $5.00 shipping.  There were no bids, so the seller raised his price to $8.98, still plus that very high $5.00 shipping fee, and tried one more week as a Buy It Now item.  This did not work either, so he ended the listing unsold.

2/14/18

Oklahoma, Weatherford.  1973 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Uncirculated, but a bit spotty.  Start $22.75 with FREE shipping.  No one was buying at this very high price, of course, but the seller was trying to entice bids by lowering the price.  It went to $22.61, and then to a $21.90 start.  Then the seller ended the listing because “the item is no longer available”.  Not quite true as the same specimen immediately came back as a BIN item at an even higher price - $23.23.  Still available.  The current listing ends on April 18.

2/15/18

Kansas.  1961 Official Centennial Coin for Montgomery County.  Offered for a start of $3.99 plus $3.50 shipping.  There were no bids and the token was not relisted.

2/16/18

Colorado, Denver.  1975 Denver Broncos Bronco Buck.  Another year for this series of sports schedules that probably not be listed.  $4.50 plus $4.00 shipping.  Listed until March 22 before being ended unsold.

2/16/18

North Dakota, Medora.  1983 Little Missouri Dining Saloon Private issue Dollar.  Had one of these in choice condition already, but this one had reflective surfaces and I thought it MIGHT be struck in silver.  The seller did not say. The start was pretty high, $10.00 plus $1.00 shipping, so I bid just a bit over that - $10.88, suspecting that no one else would bid.  But someone else did bid, winning it for $11.38.  So now I don’t know.  Perhaps someone else out there knows - Were there silver pieces issued of this issue?

2/16/18

Texas, San Antonio.  1988 Texas Folklife Festival Dollar.  From the long-running series that is probably going to be de-listed in future issues of the catalog.  Start $6.50 plus $3.50 postage.  That’s ten bucks if you want to own this token.  Too much!  Listed until the 30th of March, before being ended unsold by the seller.

2/17/18

Idaho, Buhl.  1981 75th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Start $15.00 plus $3.00 shipping.  No bids.  Not relisted.

2/17/18

Illinois, Galena.  1961Civil War Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $4.50 plus $3.50 shipping.  Still available for the same price two months later , with the current listing ending on April 18.

2/17/18

Montana, Red Lodge.  1936 Red Lodge Rodeo Half Dollar.  The condition was VF/XF and holed at the top for use on a keychain or other similar item.  Rather crude and it does does not appear to be officially holed.  Sold for the opening bid of $9.99 plus $3.50.

2/18/18

Hawaii, Kona.  1974 Kona Dollars in Antiqued Brass - one numbered on a nimber block, one standard issue with no block or number.  This one has been available for $39.99 for a while as a Buy It Now item, but as a sale they were offered for 10% off ($36.79), and on February 18 some one bought the lot.

2/18/18

Illinois, Roodhouse.  1966 Centennial Half Dollar.  The start was a very optimistic $20.00, but at least there was FREE shipping.  On the third week the token was changed to a BIN item at $17.00, but the listing was then terminated “because the item is no longer available”.

2/18/18

Michigan, Pontiac.  1961 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $15.00 with Free shipping.  After two weeks the price went down by a dollar, and you could just buy it instead of bidding.  It can still be had, now for only $12.00, after two months of listing.

2/18/18

Montana, Red Lodge.  1935 Rodeo Half Dollar.  Uncirculated - or very close.  Sold to a single bidder at the $25.00 with FREE shipping start.

2/18/18

Virginia, Stafford County.  1964 300th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder at the $9.99 with FREE shipping start.  Surprisingly, the first of these I have seen on Ebay since 2013.

2/19/18

Minnesota, Virginia.  Minnesota Centennial Iron Nickel.  Extremely Fine.  Start 79¢ plus $3.99.  No bids, so the seller decided the way to sell his token was to raise the price.  He made it a BIN item for $3.79 plus $3.99. That went on until April 16 when the seller then gave up and ended his listing unsold.

2/20/18

Alabama, Montgomery.  1961 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar.  A very choice example with a starting bid of $6.95 and a postal charge of $2.99.  There were no bids, and it was not relisted.

Ohio, Genoa.  1968 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $6.95 plus $1.50.  No bids.  After a month it was made a Buy It Now item at $9.50 plus $1.50, and it remains available at that price another month down the line.  The current listing ends on April 22.  The same seller is currently offering another specimen, not quite as nice, for $9.95 plus $3.00.

2/20/18

Colorado, Durango.  1984 (85) Narrow Gauge Train Two Dollars.  Start $4.95 plus $2.66 shipping.  After a week it became a BIN item at the same cost, and it lasted until April 7 before the seller ended the listing unsold.

Wisconsin, Milwaukee.  1902 Jahrmarkt Dime.  VF/XF condition.  Sold to a single bidder at the $15.00 plus $4.00 opening bid.

2/22/18

Montana.  1964 Statehood Dollars in Nickel-Silver and Silver - both in individual hard plastic cases.  Start $14.99 plus $3.75.  There were 11 bids by 4 bidders and the pair ended up selling for $30.00.  Another of the silver pieces, an un-numbered example, was suggested by Ebay with a BIN price of $22.95 plus $2.91 shipping - no plastic case with this, one.  The current listing listing ends on April 25.

2/22/18

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 Treasure Island Doubloon.  XF/AU condition.  Start $1.99 plus $3.25 shipping.  It sold for $20.50.  There were a remarkable 20 bids - all but one from the lone underbidder.  It looks like one bidder placed a very high bid and then someone else came along placing ever higher bids up to $20.00, when he gave up.  The original bidder then won it for the next increment, $20.50.  An awful lot of money for a relatively common piece.

2/23/18

Colorado.  1979 Denver Broncos Bronco Buck Sports Schedule Token.  Golden Aluminum.  Not previously listed.  Sold to a single bidder at the opening bid of $3.99 plus $1.50.  Alright, that single bidder was me - but I still don’t think I will be listing these Bronco Bucks.

2/23/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2003 Maui Dollar in Proof Silver.  Start $19.99 plus $3.99 shipping.  Eventually there were 9 bids placed by 3 bidders and the token sold for $39.60.  A portion of the edge was pictured which read 1 OZ.  .999 AG, but the number was not shown or mentioned,  This was the no reverse date variety.

2/24/17

Hawaii.  1996 King Kamehameha Mahalo Dala in bronze - the same one I listed in December.  The $62.00 with FREE shipping start was discouraging the bidders, apparently, so the seller reduced his price to $42.00 for March, and $37.00 for April.   Still available on the 24th.

2/24/18

Ohio, Genoa.  1968 Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $6.95.  Postage $3.00.  After an unsuccessful month the price was raised to $9.95 plus $3.00 - now as a BIN item.  Still available another month later at the same price, but now with a Make Offer option.

2/25/18

Alabama, Henry County.  1961 Civil War Centennial Half Dollar.  Mintage 3,000.  Catalog value $7.50.  A scarce issue!  Start was $20.00 with FREE shipping.  I wanted it for a possible trader, but that was too much for me.  I thought about it a lot, and decided that if the seller ever lowered the start, I would bid.  A couple weeks later the start was lowered to $17.00 (I was hoping for $10.00) and I bid - winning it as the only bidder.  Gotta be scarce - this is the first of these I have seen on Ebay since I started these listings 5+ years ago.

2/25/18

Iowa, Tipton.  1966 125th Anniversary Dollar.  Start $10.00 with FREE shipping.  Two bidders battled it out and one of them eventually won it for an impressive $20.50 after a total of 7 bids.

2/25/18

Kansas.  1961 Official Centennial Coin for Shawnee County.  Start $6.99 plus $3.99.  No bids.  In March the seller lowered the start to $4.99 - and when no one bid, the listing was ended unsold.

2/25/18

New York, Eden.  1960 150th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Scarcer Golden Brass variety.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $15.00.  Offered at a $10.00 start, I thought I would be able to win this treasure as a duplicate for $18.88.  Well, I was wrong.  One bidder went for the start of $10.00, I came in way above that at $18.88, and someone else jumped in with 3 seconds left and won it for 50¢ more!  Rats!

2/25/18

Wisconsin, Fon Du Lac.  1948 Wisconsin Centennial Dime.  Private issue for Valin Camera Shop.  Just a shade from Uncirculated.  Start Was $9.99 plus $2.99 shipping.  For the week ending April 8, the price was lowered to a start of $6.99.  It is still available, with the current listing set to end on April 22.  Not a bad price - someone ought to buy it.  If the start gets lowered a bit more, I will place a bid.

2/25/18

Wyoming, Buffalo.  1959 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $10.00 with FREE shipping.  After a month the seller reduced the price to $9.00 and made it a BIN item.  In April the BIN price was raised to $12.00, and failing to snag a bid at that price, the seller ended the listing on April 17.

2/26/18

Atizona, Tombstone.  “1879” Helldorado Days Souvenir Dollar in Aluminum.  Start $14.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  It sold for an extremely high $20.50 after 4 bids by 3 bidders.  The seller called it an unlisted So-Called Dollar, which it is not, and that may have contributed to the unusually high price.  Another one sold the following day, without the So-Called Dollar description for $8.50 after a 99¢ plus $2.99 start and 10 bids by 4 bidders.

2/26/18

Oregon, Albany.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  The standard issue, unofficially silver plated.  It sold for $17.50 plus $4.00 after a $14.99 start and 3 bids by 3 different bidders.  The seller suggested it was an unlisted mule of So-Called Dollars HK-554-555, which might have helped the sales price.

2/26/18

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 U. S. Sesquicentennial Treasure Island Doubloon.  Extra Fine, and a bit dirty.  Start 95¢ plus $2.95.  After 10 bids by 6 bidders it was sold for $6.66.
