8/1/18

Wisconsin, Green Bay.  1932 Souvenir Coin in choice About Uncirculated condition.  It was nicer than the one in my collection, so I bid and won it for $8.50 as the second bidder after an $8.00 start.  Postage was $3.50 more.

8/2/18

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  1976 London Bridge Dollar.  The regular issue in bright copper.  Offered, and sold, for the opening bid of 99¢ plus $1.00 shipping.

8/2/18

Kansas, Lyndon.  1970 Centennial Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder at the 99¢ plus $3.99 start.

8/2/18

Idaho, Weiser.  1963 Idaho Centennial/National Fiddlers Festival Half Dollar.  This nice uncirculated piece did not attract a bid at its $1.99 plus $1.00 start.  For the listing ending August 25, the start was lowered to $1.79, and the postage lowered to 64¢            (there was also a $2.79 BIN option) but when nobody showed any interest, the item was ended unsold.  But that’s OK because Ebay found me another one - this one in XF condition for $6.99 plus $2.99 Buy It Now.  This one still available, but scheduled to end on October 10.

8/2/18

8/4/18

Alabama, Mobile.  1961 250th Anniversary, 6 flags version.  This one graded MS-64 and encapsulated by NGC.  Sold to a single bidder at the $5.99 plus $3.99 starting bid.

8/4/18

Alaska, Skagway.  1975 Gateway to the Klondike Dollar.  I was the only bidder at the $3.00 plus $3.50 Start.  A scarce token!

8/4/18

California, Fort Bragg.  1966 Paul Bunyan Days Dollar.  Start $6.88 plus $2.95. No bids the first week, but sold to a single bidder at the opening price on August 15.

8/4/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2007 Trade Dollar.  Lot of 5 choice Uncirculated pieces, no certificates of authenticity.  Start $8.00 plus $3.34 shipping.  Cheap - but still available, and even cheaper now because the start has dropped to $6.00 for the listing ending September 29.

8/4/18

Iowa, Emmetsburg.  1968 Irish Dollar.  Start 99¢, postage $3.25 more.  No bids the first time around, but the next week it sold to a single bidder at the opening price.

8/4/18

North Dakota, Dickinson.  1972 (1973) Roughrider Festival Dollar, close to uncirculated.  Start $9.99 with FREE shipping.  Listed until September 3 without a bid, then ended by the seller.  No problem, because Ebay found me another one, this one fully uncirculated, for $11.98 plus $3.75.  Still available with no ending date noted on September 24.

8/4/18

North Dakota, Williston Basin.  1961 Dakota Territory Centennial / 10 Years of Oil Progress Half Dollar. Uncirculated, but a little dirty.  Start 99¢ plus $1.99 shipping.  It took a second week long listing, but it did sell to a single bidder at the end of the second week.

8/4/18

Oregon, Klamath Falls.  1967 Linkville Dollar.  Start just 99¢ postage $1.99 more.  There were no bids until the week ending September 8, when it sold to a single bidder at the opening price.

8/5/18

Hawaii.  1883 (1980) Akahi Dala in chrome or rhodium plate.  Some call this an American Numismatic Association issue, but the 1980 Annual Convention was in Cincinnati that year.  The Spring 1981 show was in Honolulu, but you would think that if it were issued for that show it would say 1981, not 1980.  Anyhow, this one did sell, for its $6.95 plus $3.45 start, to a lone bidder.

8/5/18

Hawaii.  1883-1983 Centennial Dala trial strikes on scrap.  The usual 3 strikes on a square piece of white metal with a large central circle cut out.  The seller was enthusiastic, saying that while it was not unique, very few are known, and that years ago he saw a few that sold for hundreds.  Both comments probably true, but look at what they sell for here on Ebay.  His did not sell.  The start was $299 and postage $6.95 more.  It was just on Ebay for a single week.

8/5/18

Hawaii.  1984 25 Years of Statehood Dala.  Beautiful frosted silver proof.  Offered for $39.00 plus $3.45 postage.  Listed until the week ending August 26  when it sold to a bidder who placed two bids (the second not necessary) who won it for the opening price.

8/5/18

Kansas.  1961 Official Centennial Coin for Barton County.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $3.25 opening bid.  Ebay suggested another since this one had sold.  It was $2.89 plus $2.65 (or Best Offer) and will be on sale until October 15.

8/5/18

Michigan, Greenville. 1944 (1948) Centennial Quarter.  Extremely fine - a couple minor spots.  Sold to a single bidder for the $1.99 plus $3.60 opening.

8/6/18

Arizona, Willcox.  Rex Allen Days Dollars and Medals, 1970-1976. The 1976 in nickel-silver, the others in copper.  Offered for $100.00 ( or Make Offer) with FREE shipping.  No bids, but I made an offer which was declined.  It came back the next week for $80.00.  No bids.  Then $60 (now plus $6.70 shipping), and I made my offer again.  Once again I was turned down.  It has come back again at $50 plus $6.70 and has been at that level for a while.  Only 3 of them are Municipals, the others regular medals without a denomination.  I’ll make another offer - this time for just two of them, the 1974 and 1975 issues.  I’ll bid 18.30 which with the postage comes to $25.00 for the pair.  They catalog for $10 each unnumbered or $12.50 each with number.  Offer declined.

8/6/18

Hawaii.  1989 King Kamehameha 30th Anniversary Hawaii Dala.  Originally offered for $53.95 plus $4.95, it has fallen to a $51.95 start, and then a $44.95 (plus $5.95) start where it remains today.  That listing scheduled to end on September 30.  Includes box and certificate of authenticity for this one ounce cameo proof silver token.

8/7/18

Colorado, Victor.  1993 Centennial “Lesher Dollar”.  This one numbered 519.  Start 99¢, with postage just $1.95 more, this item attracted 15 bids by 8 bidders and sold for $91.00.

8/7/16

Hawaii, Maui.  1992 Maui Dollar “BRASS Rare Error Test Coin”.  The same one I wrote about in February.  Still looks like gold plate to me - except I seem to remember making an offer, it being accepted, and I ended up with the coin.  But the seller says he has never seen another, so maybe I just thought about it.  A quick check just now did not locate the coin - but that would be just like me to not put it away where it goes.  I guess I’ll make an offer and see if he will sell it to me for $25.00.  Done - now I wait to see what he says.  He has 2 days to reply.  He said Yes.  It cost me $25.00 plus $2.95 postage - just like the first one. ***When the token arrived it was a totally different finish than the one that was pictured.  The token I received was slightly circulated and really did have a brassy appearance.  That original one has turned up too, right there in my desk!

8/7/18

Nevada, Las Vegas.  “1878” Las Vegas Dollar, Obverse with Morgan dollar copy in gold finish on an antiqued brass coin.  Reverse all in antique brass finish with the Las Vegas Showgirl motif.  Mounted into a really ugly gaudy gold colored bezel.  Start 10¢ plus $3.50 shipping.  I was the third bidder and won it for $2.26.  It came out of the bezel with no damage.

8/7/18

New York, Frankfort.  1963 Centennial Half Dollar - Lot of 3 pieces.  Start $8.00 plus $3.00 shipping.  There were no bids , and the seller made the lot available for the same price, Buy It Now.  No ending date.  Still out there to tempt you on September 26.

8/8/18

Alabama, Dora.  1984  Opening of the Alabama Mining Museum Quarter.  Not previously listed, and not exactly a commemorative, so not likely to be included in the catalog.  It was close enough, though, that I wanted it anyway.  The start was $6.99 and I won it as the second bidder at $11.00 plus $3.50 shipping.

8/7/18

Pennsylvania, Jeanette.  1963 75th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Gilt brass variety.  Start $10.99, postage, $3.60.  Both too much.  No bids.  Not relisted.  Good old Ebay came up with another one, since this one was no longer available.  Cheaper, too!  This one $6.98 plus $2.50 postage.  Still too much.  Apparently without an ending date, but still available on September 26.

8/8/18

Arizona, Wolfville.  Undated One Bit Token, About Uncirculated.  The start was 99¢ with FREE shipping.  There were 8 bids by 6 bidders and it sold for $6.05.

8/8/18

Hawaii.  1976 Bicentennial Aloha Dollar.  Antiqued brass version with Revolutionary War Musicians reverse.  Start $23.16 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids for two weeks, so the seller raised the start to $24.00 and during its second week at that price it received a single bid and sold for the opening price.

8/8/18

Iowa, Clare.  Homemade Centennial Clock Plaque with a set of the Clare Irish Dollars, 1972-1982, mounted in its wooden frame.  The 1982 was the silver version, which the seller did not mention, and I did not have that variety.  I was the only bidder at the $22.00 plus $13.50 start.  Some of the gilt brass pieces were damaged by the adhesive clay that held them into the frame, but the silver one was still in the plastic capsule it was issued in, so it was still in new condition.  I was very happy to get the silver piece, which - despite its high mintage (probably 500 pieces) - has eluded me for 36 years!

8/8/18

Massachusetts, Boston (and Chestnut Hill).  1976 U.S.Bicentennial  $25.00 trade token for the Shreve, Crump and Low Company.  Paul Revere variety, containing one ounce of pure silver.  The same example, from the same seller that I noted in 2013.  Now down to a more reasonable start, $44.95 plus $4.00 shipping.  After two weeks the seller tried $39.95 as a start, but was still unsuccessful, and the sale was ended.

8/8/18

Massachusetts, Boston (and Chestnut Hill).  1976 U.S.Bicentennial  $25.00 trade token for the Shreve, Crump and Low Company.  Concord Minuteman variety, containing one ounce of pure silver.  The start was  $44.95 plus $4.00 shipping.  After two weeks the seller lowered the start by $10.00, and then ended the listing after an additional week.

8/8/18

Michigan, Harrisville.  1952 Kiki Cuyler Memorial Half Dollar.  Uncirculated - or very close.  Sold to a single bidder for the $9.95 plus $2.75 opening bid.

8/8/18

Texas, Wilson County.  1960 Centennial Half Dollar.  Not quite Uncirculated.  What the grading companies today call MS-62.  Start 7.99 plus $2.51 postage.  The token remains available at the end of September as a BIN item for a buck less, $6.99.

8/9/18

New Mexico, Carlsbad.  1963  Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated, spotty.  Start $19.99 plus $4.75 shipping.  There were no bids and it remains available at the same price (now a Buy It Now item) nearly two months later.

8/10/18

Idaho, Weiser.  1963 Idaho Centennial/National Fiddlers Festival Half Dollar.  Start $1.99 plus $1.00 shipping.  No bids.  The next couple weeks it was available as a bid item starting at $1.79 plus just 64¢ shipping, or as a BIN item for $2.79.  No one wanted it and the seller ended his listing unsold.

8/10/18

Illinois, Carthage.  1962 125th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder at the $2.97 plus $1.49 starting bid.

8/11/18

Illinois, Ottawa (LaSalle County Farm Bureau).  1964 125th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Start $20.00 plus $1.99 shipping.  Still available for the same start on October 1.  Ebay suggests another example from a different seller that is available for $11.00 with FREE shipping.

8/11/18

Pennsylvania, Forest Hills Golden Anniversary Half Dollar.  Start was $10.54 with FREE shipping.  No bids.  Not relisted.

8/12/18

Alaska.  “1878” Alaska Dollar.  This one in antique copper with a bright silver Morgan Dollar image on the obverse.  Housed in a costume jewelry bezel to be worn from a necklace.  Start $9.99 plus $3.50.  It sold for $12.84 after 2 bids.

8/12/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2003 Maui Dollar.  Start 99¢ plus $3.95 shipping.   No bids, not relisted.  Of course Ebay came up with another one since this one was no longer available - cost $10.00 BIN with FREE shipping.

8/12/18

Iowa, Story City.  1971 Scandinavian Days Dollar.  Start $8.00 plus $2.80 shipping.  Two weeks later the start fell to $6.00 and has remained there since.  The current listing will end on October 7.

8/12/18

Kansas, Elkhart.  1963 50th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Extremely Fine.  Start $4.95 plus $3.50 more for shipping.  Listed until September 30 when the seller ended the listing unsold.

8/12/18

Kansas, Neodesha.  1971 100th Year Commemorative Coin.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.50.  When this token last appeared in March 2013 I did not state the catalog value - I just expressed surprise that this piece which “I catalog for less than $10” brought $17.38, and I might have to reconsider its catalog value.  Well, this one I was able to buy as the only bidder for its opening price of $4.99 plus $2.69 shipping!  So - what is it “worth”?  $17.38?  $4.99?  Something in between?  Placing dollar values on Municipal tokens is a tricky business!  For the moment, the catalog value remains at the original $6.50 in the draft for the new edition.  Remember, though, that this is the first of these to appear on Ebay for over 5 years so I guess it has to be regarded as scarce.  It makes me wonder what a legitimately scarce issue like the bronze Neodesha Dollar of the same year (mintage 100. Catalog $15.00. No Ebay appearances.) would bring.  Probably in the same range as these two!

8/12/18

Kansas, Wellington.  1971 Centennial Commemorative Dollar.  No telling which edge variety this was.  Start $4.99 plus $2.69.  There were 2 bids and this token sold for $6.38.

8/12/18

Oregon, Albany.  1948 Centennial Half Dollar.  Uncirculated - which is not unusual for this issue.  Start $19.99 plus $4.50 shipping.  After two weekly listings the token was ended unsold.

8/12/18

Pennsylvania, New Oxford.  1974 Centennial Coin.  Start $6.00 plus $2.80.  There were no bids, and the seller ended his listing on October 2.

8/13/18

Hawaii, Maui.  2010 Maui Dollars ($2.00).  In coin flip with Certificate of Authenticity.  Offered for a start of $5.99 plus $3.99 more for shipping.  No bids, then relisted at the same price but soon ended “because the item is no longer available”.

8/13/18

Ohio, Alliance.  1950 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Uncirculated.  Start $4.99 plus $2.50 postage.  Still available as a BIN item at the same price with no ending date, two months later.

8/13/18

Ohio, Ashtabula.  1953 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $4.99 plus $2.50 postage.  Still available as a BIN item at the same price with no ending date, two months later.

8/14/18

Iowa, Emmetsburg.  1968 Irish Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $3.25 shipping start.

8/14/18

8/14/18

Kansas, Leavenworth.  1970 Buffalo Bill Cody Days Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $12.14 with FREE shipping start.

8/14/18

8/14/18

Missouri, Lee’s Summit.  1965 Centennial Half Dollar.  Gravestone variety.  Extremely Fine / About Uncirculated.  Start $32.80 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids, and it came back the following week as a BIN item at the same price.  The seller apparently still has hopes of a sale because it is still available at that same amount nearly two months later.

8/14/18

New Mexico, Alamagordo.  1958 50th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Nearly Uncirculated.  Start was $72.89 with FREE shipping.  Still available two months down the line as a BIN item at the same price.

8/14/18

Rhode Island, Pawtucket.  1963 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Extremely Fine.  You could have bid starting at $4.64, or just bought it outright for $6.24 (either way plus $3.00 postage), but no one did, and it remains available 7 weeks later for $3.24 Buy It Now.  Ebay suggests another one, a bit nicer, but still not Uncirculated that can be had for $4.50 plus a buck postage.  A little better deal, but still not a good deal.

8/14/18

Wyoming, Laramie.  1968 Centennial Half Buck.  Fence rails, wide date variety.  About Uncirculated.  Start $4.95 plus $3.50 postage.  No bids - not relisted.

8/15/18

California, Fort Bragg.  1966 Paul Bunyan Days Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder at the $6.88 plus $2.95 opening bid.

8/15/18

Iowa, Le Mars.  1969 Centennial Half Dollar, a group of 10 pieces, all uncirculated.  Sold to the lone bidder for the $1.99 plus $3.25 starting bid!  I did not realize that this lot was for multiple coins until I typed it up today.  It was not clear in the heading or in the main picture.  Too bad, I would have bid if I had realized it was for 10 pieces!

8/15/18

Iowa, Mt. Carmel.  1969 Centennial Half Dollar.  Choice Uncirculated. Start 99¢ plus $3.25 shipping.  Sold to the second bidder for only $1.25.  A nice bargain on a scarce token!

8/16/18

Iowa, Lime Springs.  1968 Centennial Half Dollar.  Uncirculated, but a little spotty.  Start Just $2.00 with FREE shipping.  Sold to a single bidder at the end of its second week on Ebay.

8/16/18

Nevada, Las Vegas.  “1878” (1981) Las Vegas Dollar with Showgirl Reverse, antiqued nickel silver with bright silver colored Morgan Dollar on the obverse.  Start 99¢ plus $2.66 shipping.  Sold to the second bidder for a very reasonable $1.57.

8/17/18

Hawaii.  1996 King Kameheha Mahalo Dala in golden bronze.  Start $14.95 with FREE shipping.  A gemmy specimen much better than the tarnished one in my collection.  I bid and won it as the only bidder.  Cheap!  I think.

8/19/18

Hawaii, Molokai.  1976 Molokai Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Available for $100.00 BIN plus $2.99 shipping.  Listed for the one week then ended because  “there was an error in the listing”.  The same seller came back with another one, not as nice - it looks to be XF or so, but cleaned.  It was a BIN item too, priced at $80.00 or best offer.  Still available on October 16 with no ending date.

8/19/18

Minnesota.  1958 Uniface Obverse of the Minnesota Centennial Series.  The unholed golden brass version. Appears to be an especially choice example.  Start was $74.95 with FREE shipping.  Listed for 2 weeks, then ended unsold.  When writing this listing up I noted it had been relisted at some point as a BIN item at the same price.  It still looked real nice.  I checked the one in my collection and this one would be a nice improvement.  Then I checked back on these lists to see what they have been selling for.  Then I started thinking about the hundred bucks or so Ebay had just sent me for my Ebay Bucks rebate.  Then I hit the Buy It Now button and purchased it with my Ebay Bucks!  I will report here if it was really as nice as it looked in the image. *** It arrived, and is pretty nice, an easy MS-65 by current standards, maybe a 66.  Not quite what I’d call choice, but a strong uncirculated example - definitely better than the AU that was in my collection.

8/19/18

Oregon, Albany.  1948 Centennial Half Dollar. Very Choice AU.  Start $19.99 plus $4.50.  Nobody has bid on this token over the last 8 weeks, and it remains available, though now for a more reasonable (but still too high) $9.99 plus $4.50. That’s almost $15.00 for a common token.

8/19/18

Pennsylvania, Blakely.  1967 Centennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $16.99 with FREE shipping.  It remains available, but is currently on a 40% off sale, $10.19 (last week it was 45% off).  There is also a Make Offer option.  The current listing ends on October 17.

8/19/18

Pennsylvania, Linglestown.  1965 Bicentennial Half Dollar.  Not quite Uncirculated.  Start $2.00 plus $2.85 shipping.  Listed at this price until October 1 when the seller ended his listing unsold.

8/20/18

Arizona, Quartzite.  1973 Quartzite Pow Wow Dollar.  Start $4.95, postage $3.50.  Listed until October 14 when the seller ended the listing because of lack of interest by the bidders.

8/20/18

Hawaii, Hilo.  1973 Hilo Dollar, the standard version in About Uncirculated condition.  These are listed all the time on Ebay, but seldom get bid on.  This one at a $2.50 plus $3.50 start sold to a single bidder at the opening bid.

8/20/18

Montana, Billings.  1968 State Fair 50th Anniversary Dollar.  The proof-like nickel silver version that was issued in a Franklin Mint easel holder.  This one missing the holder.  Sold to a single bidder for the $6.99 with FREE shipping start.

8/21/18

Alabama, Bessemer.  1962 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  Uncirculated, but a bit spotty on the reverse.  Start 99¢.  Postage $3.00.  No bids.  Not relisted.

8/21/18

Hawaii. 1976 Aloha Dollar. Antique brass with Revolutionary War musicians on reverse.  The start was $24.00 with FREE shipping.  It took a couple more listings, but it did sell to a single bidder for this price on September 6.  This is the most common version of the 1976 Aloha Dollars.

8/21/18
