4/13/17

Montana, Libby.  1967 Diamond Jubilee Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.50.  This one sold for the $9.99 plus $2.87 starting bid.  Another also listed today by a different seller went without a bid at essentially the same price - $6.75  plus $3.75.  This one lasted until June 6 without a bid, so the seller lowered the price a buck to $5.75.  It is still available - the current listing ends July 5.

4/16/17

South Dakota, Sioux Falls.  1961 Territorial Centennial Half Dollar.  Mintage 300,000.  Catalog value $2.00 for this variety (Cooperating, circles).  The most common variety, but a very nice specimen.  Perhaps that is why it sold - they usually don’t.  Ebay did dredge up a couple more of these they offered under a selection of tokens titled “More chances to get what you want”.  One was $19.95 and the other $21.99, both with FREE shipping.  Neither was as nice as this one that sold for $3.45 after a 99¢ start and 7 bids by 4 bidders. Also with FREE shipping.  Another reason it sold is probably because the seller for some reason described it as a So-Called Dollar.

4/20/17

(Alabama, Montgomery)  Undated Civil War Centennial  Obverse only, reverse, usually with the redemption information, blank within the usual raised rim.  Actually used on a number of MTCs, this one will be listed under Montgomery Alabama because that is the first listing in the book utilizing it.  This is a Wendell’s issue, an they did a uniface version with several of their issues - Fort Morgan, Colorado, Minnesota  Centennial issues, Mansfield Ohio, and the Oregon Centennial and the Sioux Falls Dakota Territory Centennial issues are the ones that come to mind, all of which are listed as uniface pieces in the cataog.  This is the first of these I have come across and I placed an aggressive bid, which really was not necessary as it sold for just $16.06 after a 99¢ plus $2.75 start and 9 bids by 5 bidders.  I thought that was a real bargain!

4/20/27

Indiana, Carlisle.  1965 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.00.  This was a $6.99 plus $2.99 Buy It Now item in a Seller’s Store.  Listed for just a week, then ended because “the item is no longer available”.

This Proof-like one was set with a $1.29 plus $2.67 start, and that is what it sold for.  A bargain!

4/20/17

4/21/17

(Colorado, Victor) 2015 $100.00 Lesher Dollar fantasy restrike by Daniel Carr.  Unlisted.  This one will not be listed as it does not seem to commemorate anything.  A one ounce octagonal silver piece that was started at $60.00 plus $7.20 and it sold for $73.00 after 5 bids by 3 bidders.  These tokens can be ordered with whatever engraving one might like, and this one was inscribed  E PLURIBUS / UNUM, and numbered 001.  Listed under Victor, Colorado because most of the original ones were made for use there, and this way they will all be together in the listing.

4/25/17

Montana.  1964 Statehood Diamond Jubilee, Territorial Centennial Dollar, Sterling Silver.  Priced at a start of $24.95 plus $2.50 shipping, it was just priced too high. By the middle of May it was down to $23.70, and at the end of the month, $22.52.  When no one bid by June 24, the seller ended his listing unsold.  The seller did not describe the edge, so no telling which variety this was.

4/26/17

Arizona, Globe.  Undated Days of ’49 Dime.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $17.50, but going down.  Started at $4.99 plus $2.75, this Very Fine example drew 2 bids from 2 bidders and sold for $11.50.

4/26/17

Iowa, Emmetsburg.  2006 Irish Dollar.  Unknown mintage. This year too new to be included in the last edition of the MTC catalog.  I was the only bidder at the 99¢ plus $2.61 starting bid - that is cheaper than what they sold for when they were issued!
