10/1/21

Nevada, Ely.  1986 First Issue “Coin” for Centennial of the Nevada Northern Railway.  Unknown Mintage, Catalog Value $6.50.  Offered along with a second issue Medal noting the Centennial of the town - not a MTC.  This was the first of the MTC First Issue I have seen on Ebay, so I had to bid, and I won the pair them as the second bidder for $9.50 with FREE shipping after a $9.00 start.

10/1/21

Ohio, Ashland.  1965 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the 69¢ plus 69¢ starting bid.  A good buy for someone!

10/3/21

Illinois, Barrington.  1963 Centennial Half Dollar.  This had been listed at a $15.00 plus $3.49 BIN price for a while without any luck - but when the seller had a 10% off sale and cut the price to $13.50, it was finally purchased by someone.

10/4/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $1.99 plus $4.75 shipping.  There were 6 bids placed by just 2 bidders and it sold for $5.50.  Thai’s over $10.00 all in for this About Uncirculated example of one of the most common of all Municipal Tokens!

10/4/21

Maryland. 1984 350th Anniversary Penny.   This “Calvert Penny” replica probably is not listable, but I do keep a copy in my collection.  Just a reproduction of the original coin, but with the commemorative 1834-1984 dates.  The real coin was issued in 1659, and this commemorative notes the 350th anniversary of Maryland, not the 350th anniversary of the coin.  This example came in the original descriptive envelope and had a start of $3.49 plus $4.75, but no takers.  Still available for the same start 8 weeks later.

10/4/21

North Dakota, Rolla.  1963 75th Jewelorama Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $4.99 plus $1.10.  It took until November 7 before someone bid and won it for the starting bid.

10/5/21

California, Los Angeles.  1981 Los Angeles Birthday Dollar.  City of Opportunity Variety.  Graded MS-63 and encapsulated by ANACS.  Start $11.99 plus $4.50 shipping.  For the listing ending November 5 the start was lowered to $9.99 and then was ended because “the item is no longer available”.

10/5/21

Indiana, Brazil.  1962 World’s Oldest Concert Band Half Dollar.  I bought this very slightly circulated copy for my duplicate box at the $5.00 plus $1.00 start.

10/9/21

10/9/21

Montana, Plentywood.  1962 50th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Start $15.00 plus $4.95 postage.  Two weeks later he reduced the start to $13.00, and after the second week it did sell for that price to a lone bidder.  While this one was on sale, another one was also available for a BIN price of $64.88 with FREE shipping.  it was encapsulated by NGC and graded MS-64, about the same grade as the auction item.  That one remains available for the same price two months later.

10/10/21

Idaho, Ketchum.  1960  Wagon Days Dollar.  Uncirculated, but with a few spots on the obverse.  Start $2.25 plus $1.50, and I won it as just the second bidder for $3.01.  A bargain!

Iowa, Eldridge.  1971 Centennial Coin.  Start $2.25 plus $1.50 shipping.  After 5 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $4.50.

10/10/21

10/10/21

After a couple weeks  more with no bids, on December 1 the seller ended the listing unsold “because there was an error in the listing”.

10/10/21

Oregon, Ashland.  1982 Oregon Shakespearean Festival $2.00.  Start $7.55 plus 93¢ postage.  There were no bids the first time around, but it did sell during its second listing.

10/10/21

South Dakota, Sioux Falls.  1960-61 Dakota Territory Centennial Half Dollar.  Cooperating, circles variety.  Nice About Uncirculated.  Start $2.99 with FREE shipping.  After 3 bids by 2 bidders it sold for $4.25.

10/11/21

Oregon, Gresham.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar, no smoke variety.  Choice Uncirculated.  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ shipping.  After 11 bids by 4 bidders this nice piece sold for $6.50.

10/12/21

Minnesota, Benson.  1970 Centennial Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Ebay no longer reports the original asking price, but I offered $3.99 (plus $1.99 shipping) and the seller accepted my offer.

10/13/21

California, San Buenaventura.  1966 Centennial Half Dollar.  A pair of these attractive commemoratives.  The start of $4.99 with FREE shipping was not met for two additional weeks, but then it was won for the opening price.  Perhaps of some interest is that while these were being offered, Ebay was suggesting another single specimen, graded MS-65  by NGC for $59.48 with FREE shipping.  I agree with the grading, and think that it may (gasp!) actually be undergraded by a point!  One of the two original examples that were offered for $4.99  was at least the equal of this single specimen, and the other may well have been as well, but since it was photographed  inside a polyethelyne bag, I couldn't see it well enough to be sure.  The graded and encapsulated one is still available in December.

10/13/21

Hawaii. King Kalakaua. 1883/1986 "This is a Hawaiian Sovereign" struck in Aluminum.  Probably not listable.  The start was  $9.99 plus 75¢ shipping.  There were 4 bid by 3 bidders and I won it for $16.05.

10/13/21

Hawaii, Maui.  2001 Maui Trade Dollar.  Not described as silver by the seller, and since it lacked the usual proof finish of the silver specimens, it escaped my notice.  The start was $4.99 plus $4.60 shipping.  There were 3 bids by 2 bidders and it sold for $12.68.  It came with the original certificate indicating that it was silver and the mintage was 1,500 pieces, max.  Unfortunately the edge was not imaged, so I can’t determine which edge variety or number it was, nor can I determine it was actually a silver specimen.  I will consider it a standard nickel-silver example for the purposes of this listing.

10/13/21

Pennsylvania, Jonestown.  1961 Bicentennial Half Dollar.  Spotty Uncirculated.  Start 99¢ plus $3.50 shipping.  After 4 bids by 2 bidders, this item sold for $3.25.

10/14/21

10/14/21

South Dakota, Sioux Falls 1960 (61) Dakota Centennial Half Dollar.  Start 99¢ plus $4.45 shipping.  Listed at the same price until November 4 before selling to a single bidder for the opening bid.

10/15/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Alaska Statehood Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $8.49 plus $5.20 opening bid.

10/15/21

Washington, Seattle.  1962 Century 21 Expo Dollar.  Nearly Uncirculated.  Sold for the $1.99 plus $3.99 start.

10/16/21

Alaska.  1962 Alaska Boosters Dollar.  Start $1.99 plus $4.75 shipping.  There were 6 bids placed by just two bidders and it sold for $5.10.

10/16/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Alaska Statehood  Dollar, About Uncirculated.  Sold for the start of $1.99 plus $4.75 shipping to a single bidder. One minute later, a second of these was offered by the same seller.  It was Uncirculated, but with heavy bag marks and rust spots on both sides and sold for $3.24 after 5 bids by 2 bidders.

10/16/21

Hawaii.  “1883” King Kalakaua Akahi Dala.  Short denticles.  Start 99¢ plus $4.25 shipping.  After 7 bids by 4 bidders it sold for $7.00.

10/16/21

Ohio, Loudonville.  1964 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar, About Uncirculated.  The start was $6.95 with FREE shipping, and it remained at that level until the week ending December 5.  At that time the seller lowered the start to $4.99 and raised the shipping cost from FREE to $1.99 - actually a 4¢ increase in the cost to the bidder!   Let’s see if that tactic works…………Apparently not, because it is still available for that cost a full month later, now ending January 5.

10/16/21

Ohio, Middlefield.  1999 Bicentennial Dollar.  I was the only bidder at the 99¢ with FREE shipping start.  Ebay suggested another lot of these the seller was offering as BIN items and there were 3 available, and I purchased all of those for $1.99 each (also with FREE shipping) so I was pleased to get a few more of these.  Unfortunately, both packages were lost in the mail.  Rats!

10/16/21

Oregon, Milton-Freewater.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ shipping.  After 5 bids by 4 bidders, it sold for $2.26.

10/16/21

South Dakota, Sioux Falls.  1960-61 Dakota Territory Centennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ for shipping.  There were 7 bids by  3 bidders, and it sold for $2.01.  Cooperating, circles variety.

10/17/21

Arizona, Tombstone.  “1879” Helldoado Days Dollar in copper, Cleaned About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $9.99 plus $3.75 starting bid.

10/17/21

Hawaii.  “1883” King Kamehameha Akahi Dala.  Long denticles variety.  Start 99¢ plus $4.45 shipping.  After 2 bids it sold for $2.25.

10/17/21

Washington, Walla Walla.  1960 Frontier Days $20.00.  I was the only bidder interested in paying the $14.99 plus $1.00 starting bid.

10/18/21

North Dakota, Minot.  Undated Norsk Hostfest Official Commemorative Collector’s Coin.  Looks like antiqued nickel-silver with red, white and blue examples.  Have not seen this one before, but the start was so high - $40.30 plus $15.92 postage - that I was not willing to bid.  It turned out that it didn’t matter anyway, because before the official ending date the item was ended “because the item is no longer available”.

10/19/21

Hawaii, Hilo.  Undated Hilo Dollar without serifs in the more common golden brass finish.  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ for shipping.  After 4 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $2.25.

10/20/21

Alabama, Athens.  1969 150th Anniversary Half Dollar.  Lot of 3.  Start $20.00 plus an unfortunate $5.60 shipping.  When nobody bid after its second week on Ebay, the seller ended his listing unsold.

10/20/21

Oregon, Springfield.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  Variety with smoke coming from the smokestacks on the left.  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ more for postage.  Sold for a very reasonable $3.58.

10/21/23

Kansas. 1961 Official Centennial Coins from Linn and Wyandotte Counties,  About Uncirculated, also a nice Uncirculated  silver 1961 U.S. Mint Kansas Centennial  So-Called Dollar, HK-586 (not an MTC) that has, as of today, a silver content of 19.36 grams that, as of the day I write this, is worth $12.43 melt value.  The three pieces had a start of $9.95 plus $3.45 shipping, and sold, after 4 bids by 4 different bidders, for $22.38.  I was the underbidder at 50¢ less.  Just trying to get a bargain!

10/21/21

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 Sesquicentennial Treasure island Doubloon.  Extremely Fine with dark surfaces, some corrosion, many pockmarks and a couple  significant scratches on the obverse.  Ugly.  Start 99¢ plus $15.00 shipping from Slovenia.  After 3 bids by 3 different bidders it sold for $2.25.

10/22/21

Montana, Billings.  1969 Midland Empire State Fair and Rodeo Dollar with portraits  of Lewis and Clark.  Standard Nickel Silver version.  Start $2.99 plus $4.75 shipping.  After 4 bids by 2 bidders it sold for $5.74.  More and more I notice collectors willing to pay $10.00 or more (as this one did when you factor in the shipping) for attractive MTC’s of this rarity (Mintage 10,110, catalog value $4.00) - especially from the western and midwestern states.

10/23/21

Hawaii.  King Kalakaua  1883-1883 Centennial Dollar with the usual inscription around the Hawaiian Coat of Arms replaced by the inscription THE HAWAIIAN MINT 1975 / HONOLULU HAWAII.  Unknown mintage.  Not previously noted in these lists.  Start $2.99 plus $3.50 postage.  It sold for $81.00 after 9 bids by 4 bidders.

10/23/21

Kansas, Elkhart.  1963 50th Anniversary Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $5.25 starting bid.

10/23/21

Minnesota, Chisholm.  1958 Minnesota Centennial Half Dollar.  Extremely Fine or perhaps a bit better (hard to tell from the image).  Start 69¢ plus 69¢ shipping.  It sold for $2.06 after 4 bids by 3 bidders.

10/23/21

New Mexico, Carlsbad.  1963 75th Anniversary Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated - looks polished. Start $4.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  There were no bids, then the seller made it a BIN item for the same price until November 23, and then ended the listing “because there was an error in the listing”.

10/24/21.

Indiana, Evansville.  1962 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Diebreak, no depression.  Start 99¢ plus $4.50 shipping fee.  Listed under these terms until December 11 when the seller  ended his listing “because the item is no longer available”.

10/24/21

Nebraska, Wilber.  (1964) 1965 Czech Capital of Nebraska Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $4.99 with FREE shipping, but after 13 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $20.50.  Wow!  Still, it is the first of these I have seen on Ebay since January 2013.  That $4.00 catalog value now seems too low.

10/25/21

Massachusetts, North Andover.  1955 Centennial Dime - private issue for Val’s Restaurant.  I spotted this as a Buy It Now offering priced at $6.88 plus $1.00 postage and snapped it up.  A nice price for this scarce token!

10/26/21

Hawaii.  1993 King Kamehameha Mahalo Dala in Copper.  Start $9.99 plus $3.20 shipping.  Start was 9.99 plus $3.20.  It sold for $29.88 after 6 bids by 5 bidders, with me being the immediate underbidder.  Quite an advance over the only other listing I have for it, four years back.

10/26/21

Montana, Havre. 1962 Pioneer Multitennial Half Dollar.  Start $6.99 or BIN for $9.99 - either way with a $4.00 postal fee.  Listed until November 10 and then ended unsold by the seller.

10/27/21

Hawaii.  “1883” King Kalakaua 1984 Mint Visit Dala and Undated King Kamehameha Statue 1984 Mint Visit Dala, both Uncirculated.  Start $9.99 with FREE shipping.  There were 5 bids by 4 bidders, and once again - like the similar lot yesterday - I was the underbidder at 1 bid increment lower.  Rats!.  At least I did not need them for my collection.  Just looking for good duplicates.

10/27/21

Hawaii, Maui.  1973 Maui Dollar, high rounded clouds variety.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $5.00 plus 99¢ starting bid.

10/27/21

Maryland,  Frederick or Washington County.1962 Battle of Antietam (Dunker Church) Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $1.00 plus $4.75 start.

10/27/21

Nebraska, Crete.  1967 Nebraska Centennial Dollars.  TWO of these in the lot.  Start $3.00 plus $4.55 shipping.  On November 18, the seller gave up and ended this very reasonably priced lot unsold.

10/27/21

New York, New York City.  “1909” Hudson Fulton Exposition /Sommers Island Shilling Mule.  Start $10.99 plus $3.78 shipping.  There were 3 bids by 3 different bidders and it sold for $12.72.

10/27/21

Pennsylvania, Beaver Falls.  1968 Centennial Half Dollar.  Corrected spelling, About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $1.00 plus $4.75 shipping starting bid.

10/28/21

Wyoming, Green River.  1969 John Wesley Powell Centennial Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Buy It Now price $20.00.  Still around in late December, still at the same price, but currently with a “Make Offer” option.

10/29/21

Hawaii, Hilo.  Undated Hilo Dollar without serifs in golden brass.  Start just $24.99, but with FREE shipping.   Not surprisingly, it remains available, still at the same price, two months later.  The current listing ends December 28.

10/29/21

Oregon, Pendleton.  2013 Pendleton Round-Up LBR Chip.  A new one to me.  The LBR part is a mystery, I have seen these Round-Up tokens noted as BAR chips and PBR Chips, the PBR stands for Professional Bull Riders.  This one may be an error, or maybe is assigned to an organization I am not familiar with.  The start was $5.55 plus 93¢ postage.  There were 4 bids by 3 bidders, and I won it for $7.55.  I may be listing these Pendleton Round-Up chips in the next edition of the catalog.

10/29/21

Wyoming, Greybull.  1968 60th Anniversary Dollar Days of “49”.  Start $9.99 plus $4.45 shipping.  It stayed at that price until November 26 when the seller lowered the start to $4.99 and it stayed at that level until December 17 when the seller ended his listing unsold.

10/30/21

Minnesota, Virginia.  1959 Iron Nickel.  Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $3.99 plus 99¢ opening bid.

10/30/21

Virginia, Warrenton.  (1961-1965) Civil War Centennial Warrenton Retail Merchants Association Auction Dollar.  I bought it as a sort of a novelty, and because paper script may someday be regarded as MTCs.  I was the only bidder for the $8.00 plus $1.00 start, and because it never was delivered I can’t even describe the reverse as only the obverse was pictured, maybe because it was blank.

10/31/21

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  1974 London Bridge Rotary Havasu Dollar.  Uncirculated.  Sold to the second bidder for $2.00 plus $4.10 for a mailing charge after a 99¢ start.  The same seller has an inferior example of this token that he is currently offering (in late December, as I am typing this up) that is probably Uncirculated but with distracting black stains on the obverse, that he has priced at $14.99 plus $4.10.  Good luck with that!

10/30/21

Texas, Childress.  1963 U.S. Highway 287 Half Dollar.  Won by a single bidder for the $14.95 plus $3.49 start.  The actual issuing location is not mentioned on the token, but the seller attributed it Port Arthur, TX probably because the highway starts (or ends) there.  I attribute it to Childress because Cliff Mishler said that when he listed it in 1962, and because, as he noted,  the National U. S. 287 Highway Association - which issued these - was located in that city.
