MTCs on Ebay August 2021

8/1/21

Indiana, Crawfordsville.  1965 Centennial Half Dollar.  Choice uncirculateded on the front but some stains on the reverse.  Start $1.50 plus an unknown amount for postage.  Ebay said they would calculate the shipping amount based on zip code, but when I put mine in it said  my zip was “invalid".  Listed for one more week at the same start and same postage deal - then ended by the seller because “the item is no longer available".

8/1/21

Kansas/Texas.  1961/60 Kansas Centennial obverse, and Wilson County Texas Centennial Half Dollar reverse.  One of the more desirable Municipal tokens.  Start $4.00 plus $1.00 shipping.  Remarkably, I was the winner as just the second bidder for $5.50.

8/2/21

Colorado, Victor.  1993 Lesher City of Mines Referendum Souvenir $1.25.  Numbered 748.  Start $39.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  After 5 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $60.99.

8/2/21

Nebraska, Chadron.  1960 Diamond Jubilee Half  Dollar.  Could’t tell if this was the standard golden brass variety or an overexposed example of the silver plated variety.  I am going to record it as a sale of the golden brass version since the seller did not describe it.  The start was $1.00 plus $3.00 shipping.  There were two bids and it sold for $2.06.

8/2/21

Nevada, Las Vegas.”1898” (1979) Las Vegas Coin.  Sold to a single bidder for the $3.59 plus $3.00 starting bid.

8/2/21

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.  1926 U.S. Sesquicentennial Treasure Island Doubloon.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $8.00 plus $1.50 start.

8/3/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Alaska Statehood Dollar.  Graded MS-65 and encapsulated by NGC.  Start 99¢ plus $3.50 shipping.  After 11 bids by 5 bidders it sold for $7.67.  Five days later, on the 8th, another was offered by a different seller - this one actually a nicer specimen, but graded only MS-63 and encapsulated by ANACS.  It had a $9.00 plus $4.75 start and sold for $12.50 after 4 bids by 2 bidders.  The very next day another NGC MS-65 ended.  This time there was a higher $17.99 plus $4.75 start, but nobody bid so the seller ended his listing after a single week.

8/3/21

Kansas. Coronado Cuarto Centennial 5¢ in Zinc.  One side, the obverse, dark.  About Uncirculated condition.  Start $9.99 plus $5.00 for shipping.  To me, a $5.00 postage charge for a low-value nickel-size coin seems excessive.  It didn’t matter anyway, since on the 17th of the month the seller ended his listing unsold.  At the time there were 7 other examples available as BIN items for prices from $1.25 to $15.99

(the most expensive one much nicer, and with FREE shipping).

8/3/21

Mississippi, Laurel.  1957 Diamond Jubilee Masonite Money Nickel.  Nearly half of the golden printing missing, and with a few edge bumps.  Start $10.00 plus $4.00 shipping.  After the third additional listing, on September 5, it sold to a single bidder.

8/3/21

Montana, Helena.  1964 Centennial Official Souvenir Gold Piece (golden brass).  Attractive proof-like example.  Start $9.99 plus $3.50 shipping.  Listed at that start unitl September 9, then ended unsold by the seller.

8/3/21

Ohio, Alliance.  1960 Carnation Festival Half Dollar.  Mintage 7,500.  Catalog value $4.00.   I was the only bidder and won it for the $3.90 plus $1.50 opening bid.  I was astounded that this was the first appearance of this token in these lists!  The value will be going up a couple bucks in the next edition.

8/3/21

Ohio, Mansfield.  1958 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar struck in Aluminum.  About Uncirculated.  Sold to a single bidder for the $1.99 with FREE shipping start.  A good deal!

8/4/21

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  1988-1989 London Bridge Commemorative Dollar.  Start $3.00 plus $5.00 shipping.  When nobody bid, the seller ended his listing unsold.

8/5/21

Iowa, Emmetsburg.  1973 Irish Dollar.  Start $5.00 plus $4.75 more for shipping.  Listed at this level until September 2, then ended by the seller without a bid.

8/5/21

Maine.  1965 Ski Maine Sitzmark.  About Uncirculated.  Start 99¢ plus 76¢ shipping.  About Uncirculated.  This token attracted 9 bids from 3 bidders and sold for $10.00 even.

8/5/21

North Dakota, Rugby.  1961 Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar.  About Uncirculated.  Start $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping.  With no bids by August 25th, the seller ended his listing unsold.

8/5/21

Texas, Bryan - College Station.  1962 Centennial Half Dollar.  The start was 99¢ plus $4.88 shipping, but after 4 bids by 4 different bidders it sold for $4.25.

8/5/21

Wyoming, Casper.  1964 Diamond Jubilee Dollar.  Start 99¢ plus $2.99 shipping.  When no one bid the first week the seller ended his listing unsold.

8/6/21

Iowa, Preston.  1970 Centennial Souvenir Coin.  Start $14.99 plus $4.45 shipping.  There have been no bids, and now, 8 weeks later it is still available - currently 20% off - making its cost (now as a Buy It Now item) $11.99 but still with that $4.45 shipping fee.

8/7/21

Michigan, Onaway.  1949 50th Anniversary Quarter.  Very weakly struck on the obverse (as is typical) but still nearly fully brilliant.  NGC encapsulated it and assigned it a MS-65 grade, although they stated it was the town’s 59th anniversary on the label.  Available as a BIN item for $49.99 plus $2.99 shipping.  It remains available two months later for the same cost.

8/8/21

Arizona, Sierra Vista.  Undated Sierra Vista Silver Dollar in Aluminum - as usual.  Uncirculated, or very close, but with some dark stains.  Start $7.95 with FREE shipping.  No bids, but it came back as a BIN item for a slightly raised $8.95 price - and has been available at that price for the last two months.

8/8/21

Washington, Seattle.  1962 Century 21 Exposition Dollar.  Start just 1¢, but with a hefty $5.99 shipping charge.  It attracted 3 bids from 2 bidders and sold for $1.25.  That is $7.24 including postage, and not a bargain at all.  I hope the buyer bought several items from this seller, and that the seller combined postage for his wins.  That aspect of the sale was not addressed in the description.

8/8/21

West Virginia, Logan County.  1963 Centennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $4.25 starting price.

8/9/21

Washington, Goldendale.  1972 Centennial Dollars - a pair of them, one Extremely Fine and the other About Uncirculated.  The start was $12.99 plus $3.49 shipping, but after 2 bids by 2 bidders it sold for $15.99.

8/10/21

Kansas.  Official Centennial Coin for Pawnee County.  Start $10.00 plus $3.49 shipping.  Nobody bid, co the seller raised the price to $13.50 plus $3.49 BIN, and tried for two more weeks without success, then ended his listing unsold.

8/10/21

Montana, Fort Benton.  1971 (1972) 125th Anniversary Dollar, numbered version (this one 590).  Slightly handled About Uncirculated/Uncirculated.  Start $14.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  On the 22nd it came back for $12.99 plus $4.00.  For the listing ending September 3 the start was lowered to $9.99 and it sold to a single bidder.  At $13.99 all in, this was still pretty high for this token…but still, just try to find another.  Right now the only other one on Ebay is the more readily available un-numbered version at a $19.95 plus $5.00 start.

8/11/21

Albama, Mobile.  1961 250th Anniversary Half Dollar - Rafael Semmes type.  Sold to a single bidder for the $2.50 plus $4.00 shipping starting bid.

8/11/21

California.  1979 California Dollar.  Start, a whopping $14.99 plus $3.89 shipping. Ten days later it was offered for $11.99.  Then $9.99 and it remained at that level until September 11 when the listing was ended “because the item is no longer available”.

8/11/21

Kansas, Lawrence.  1954 Centennial Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $12.00 plus $1.00 starting bid.

8/11/21

Maine, Old Town.  1965 125th Anniversary Half Dollar.  The start was just 99¢ plus $4.00 shipping, but after two bids it sold for $6.00.

8/11/21

Montana, Havre.  1962 Pioneer Multitennial Half Dollar.  Start $14.99 plus $4.00 shipping.  There were no bids at this level, so the seller lowered the start to $12.99, then $9.99.  Finally for the period ending September 29 the seller tried $8.99 and when there stilll were no bids, the seller ended the listing because “the item is no longer available”.

8/12/21

Colorado, Durango.  1984 (85) Narrow Gauge Train Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $4.00 shipping opening bid.

8/12/21

North Dakota.  1964 Diamond Jubilee Souvenir Half Dollars, lot of 10 including 1 Golden brass, 3 Antiqued Brass, 4 Nickel Silver, and 2 Antiqued Nickel Silver.  The (Buy It Now) price is $25.00 plus $3.69 shipping.  On the 12th the seller had 17 lots remaining out of the 20 he had originally offered, but ended the listing because “ the item is no longer available”.  Despite that statement, they came back at a slightly lower price ($28.00 with FREE shipping) and as of October 12th, the 17 lots all still available.

8/13/21

North Dakota.  1964 Diamond Jubilee Souvenir Half Dollar in the most common Golden Brass finish.  Sold to a single bidder for the 99¢ plus $3.00 shipping start.

8/14/21

California, Universal City.  “1878” Universal Studios Dollar in antiqued Nickel Silver.  Start $28.00 plus $4.00 shipping.  No bids, and still being offered for the same start - currently with an October 27 ending date.

8/14/21

Washington, Seattle.  1962 Century 21 Exposition Dollar.  About Uncirculated with the golden finish worn off the usual places on the obverse and reverse, but still graded MS-64 by NGC.  Sold to a single bidder for the $20.99 with FREE shipping starting bid.  I hope you guys do not rely on the grades assigned by the grading services because many, many, many times they are overgraded - but very rarely are they undergraded.  Do you ever wonder why?  I believe there IS an obvious reason.  My advice to any collector is to inspect the coin even more closely than you inspect the grade printed on the holder.

8/15/21

California, Oroville.  1963 Feather Fiesta Days Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder who placed a second bid as well for the opening bid of 99¢ plus $3.00 shipping.

8/15/21

Illinois, Seneca.  1965 Port District Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $5.99 plus $3.40 shipping.  For the listing ending October 11, the seller raised the shipping fee to $3.50 and when nobody bid, the listing was ended by the seller.

8/15/21

New York, Homer.  1960 125th Anniversary Half Dollar. Nice About Uncirculated condition.  Start  99¢ plus 80¢ postage.  There were just two bids but it sold for $5.13.

8/15/21

Texas, Bryan - College Station.  1962 Centennial Half Dollar.  The start was 99¢ plus $4.88 shipping and after 11 bids by 5 bidders it sold for $10.50.

8/16/21

Hawaii.  1984 Queen Liliuokalani Statehood Dollar in the most common Golden Brass finish.  Start 69¢ plus another 69¢ for shipping.  It sold for $15.59 after 15 bids by 5 bidders.

8/17/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  Graded MS-64 and encapsulated by NGC.  Very spotty reverse. It looked like the coin had been stored in one of those snap lock plastic holders with foam backing for a few decades.  Start $22.99 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids and the item was ended unsold by the seller.  The same day another example, nicer but graded XF+ by the seller (it looked Uncirculated to me) was offered “raw” (not encapsulated) for a start of 99¢ plus $1.00 shipping.  It attracted 5 bids from 2 bidders and sold for $5.05.

8/17/21

Ohio, Mansfield.  1858 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar in Golden Brass.  About Uncirculated.  Start $5.97 with FREE shipping.  After 2 bids by 2 different bidders it sold for  $8.50.

8/17/21

South Carolina, Charleston.  1961 Confederate Centennial Half Dollar.  The seller said it was About Uncirculated, but it looked Uncirculated to me. Sold to a single bidder for the $10.00 plus $3.50 starting bid.

8/17/21

Washington, Seattle.  1962 Century 21 Exposition Dollar.  Encapsulated by NGC and graded MS-64 - but the seller added a plus to the grade.  Start $22.99 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids and the seller did not resist the item.

8/18/21

Michigan, Hillsdale.  1969 Centennial Half Dollar.  Spotty Uncirculated.  Start 99¢ plus $3.00 shipping.  There were two bids and it sold for $1.51.

8/18/21

Oregon, Astoria.  1966 Bridge Dedication Half Dollar.  Sold to a single bidder for the $3.99 plus $2.00 starting bid.  Interestingly, the same token (in fact the same image) is currently being offered by a different seller 2000 miles away for $16.00 plus $2.00, Buy It Now.  Apparently the person who bought it purchased it for resale.  The relisted token is available as I type this on October 18, and - as a “store” item  - having no ending date.

8/19/21

Arizona, Lake Havasu City.  Set of the First Six London Bridge Dollars, 1972 to 1977.  Start $49.99 plus $4.45 shipping.  This set was listed until October 10 without a bid before the seller decided to end the listing unsold.  Just for fun, on the same day a seller was offering just the 1972 coin from the set for $147.15 - marked down from $327.00!  Of course nobody bought it (although it was a nicer example than the one in the set) and it remains on that special 55% off sale two full months later. Also see the 8/23 listing below.

8/19/21

8/19/21

Oregon, Newport.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  Start $1.00 plus 73¢ shipping.  After 4 bids by 3 bidders it sold for $3.12.

8/20/21

California, Van Nuys.  1976 Private issue “Bicentennial Collectors Coin”.  A Patrick Mint Bicentennial Private issue for Shannon-Quinlan with a mintage of 1,000 pieces.  Not previously listed, but I suppose it fits the definition of a Municipal  Token.  I do not have it in my collection, and just do not feel like bidding the $9.00 Plus $2.00 it would take to (maybe) win it.  I could be sure for the $12.00 BIN price, but that didn’t do it for me either.  Two full months later it remains available for the $12.00 BIN price, which I still think is too high.

9/21/21

Alaska, Fairbanks.  1959 Statehood Dollar.  Graded MS-65 and encapsulated by ANACS.  Sold to a single bidder for the $10.00 plus $4.75 starting bid.

8/21/21

8/22/21

Missouri, Liberty and Clay County.  1972 Sesquicentennial Dollar in Antiqued Bronze.  Edge not pictured or described, so I will assume it is the un-numbered version.  Sold to a single bidder for the $25.00 Buy It Now Price.

8/22/21

Ohio, Mansfield.  1958 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar in Aluminum.  Uncirculated.   Sold to a single bidder for the $1.99 with FREE shipping starting bid.

8/22/21

Ohio, Valley City.  1962 152nd Anniversary Half Dollar.  I was the only bidder interested in this elusive item at its $4.99 plus $1.50 starting bid.  Just the second one of these I have spotted on Ebay since starting these postings in 2012.

8/22/21

Oregon, Redmond.  1959 Oregon Centennial Half Dollar.  One of the Smoke varieties, with a hole a the top and a jump ring through it.  About Uncirculated.  A Buy It Now item available for $5.55 plus 91¢ shipping.  The listing was ended on this date because “the item is no longer available” - however, it came back anyway at a significantly higher $7.55 plus $3.84 shipping price.  Still available at that level two full months later.

8/24/21

Montana.  1964 Territorial Centennial Octagonal "Slug”.  Graded MS-64 and encapsulated by NGC.  The seller called it the "rarer matte finish".  I wondered if it was just circulated. Offered for $39.95 plus $4.75 shipping.  No bids.   Not relisted.

8/24/21

8/26/21

Wisconsin, Milwaukee.  1902 Jahrmarkt Good For 10¢ in Refreshments.  Neat Shield-shaped token that I have not listed before.  Five varieties of this token are listed in Gerald Johnson’s Wisconsin token catalog, and 6 on tokencatalog.com, but none in this shape.  Start $15.00 plus 75¢ postage, and it sold for $15.50 to the second bidder - who was not me - because I forgot to bid!!!!!  Rats!  I’ll get one someday.

8/29/21

New York, New York City.  “1909” Henry Hudson Daalder/Sommers Islands Shilling Mule in Silver. PCGS MS-69, the finest known, according to the seller.  PCGS also stated on the holder that this specimen was Silver Plated Brass - not Silver.  I will have to look into that.  The item was being offered for $199.00 BIN with FREE shipping, but the listing was ended today “because the item is no longer available”.  BUT - the same item by the same seller came back right away, still at the same price, so it IS still available.
