4/2/16

Kansas.  Official Centennial Coin for Kiowa County.  Unknown mintage.  The County coins were not previously listed individually - just a $2.50 valuation for any of the 130 or so varieties.  Kiowa is a somewhat scarce county.  Listed as a Buy It Now item for $19.95 plus $2.50 shipping.  No bids, and still available at the same cost.  The current listing ends on July 2.  Note****I just happened to check back on this one - it remained available until December 9 when the listing was ended because "the item is no longer available".

4/3/16

Hawaii, Honolulu.  1883/1984  King Kalakaua I Visited The Mint Dala.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $4.00.  This was an especially choice Uncirculated piece offered for $14.95 plus $2.99 shipping.  There were no bids and it was not relisted.

4/3/16

4/4/16

New York, Buffalo.  1899 (1901) Pan American Exposition Private issue for H. Kleinhans & Co., 25¢ off on a $5.00 purchase.  Not previously cataloged, but mentioned in these lists.  This one maybe in Very Fine condition, but with rough surfaces, some pits, and edge nicks.  Available for $29.95 BIN.  Still available mid June.

4/5/16

Texas.  Undated Texas Dollar struck in Aluminum and holed.  Variety with mockingbird and bluebonnet on reverse.  Not seen before with a hole.  A nice, neat hole at the top that looks like it was made that way.  If there are no other differences, in the catalog I just note “Also known holed” and do not value it, because of the ease of anyone adding a hole to make a variety.  The mintage of the regular issue is unknown.  Catalog of the regular issue $2.50.  This one was offered for $2.99 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids and then it was offered for the same price as a Buy It Now item for 5 more weeks before the seller ended the listing unsold.

4/6/16

Indiana, Cass County.  1981 Ironhorse Festival Dollar in Oxidized Brass.  Mintage 5,000.  Catalog value $6.50.  Sold to a single bidder at the $6.95 plus $2.99 opening.

4/6/16

Montana, Red Lodge 1972 (redeemable 1973) Yellowstone Park Centennial Dollar in Gilt Brass.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $5.00.  This example had a $7.89 plus $1.55 start but no bids this week.  It took two more week-long listings before it was sold to a lone bidder.

4/6/16

Virginia, Ball’s Bluff.  Anniversary of Civil War Battle Confederate Half Dollar.  Nickel-Silver variety - holed.  Up/up orientation.  This variety not included in my last listing.  It had a $4.95 plus $2.95 start, and sold for $11.78 after 5 bids by 3 bidders.

4/8/16

Illinois, Mount Prospect.  1967 Golden Anniversary Commemorative Coin.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $6.50.  Listed as a Buy-It-Now item at $3.00 plus $2.70, this coin was unable to attract the interest of even one bidder during its single week on ebay.

4/10/16

Midway.  1992 Battle of Midway Dala struck in Silver.   Unknown mintage.  Not previously cataloged.  After a 1¢ plus $2.95 start, this piece attracted 9 bids by 5 bidders and ended up selling for $26.00.  This piece, and the metal varieties in the set, may end up being listed under Hawaii - Historical Dalas.

4/10/16

Michigan, Charlotte.  1963 Centennial Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $3.50.  This one had a 99¢ plus $2.75 start, and did not find a bid.  Not relisted.

4/10/16

New York, Niagara.  1962 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $5.00.  You could have won this token for the 99¢ plus $1.85 shipping, but no one noticed it, and its week on Ebay passed without a bid.  Not relisted.

Colorado, Durango.  1982/1983 Durango Rotary Club Narrow Gauge Train Dollar.  Mintage 11,000.  Catalog value $4.00.  Offered for a $5.00 plus $2.45 start, but it received no bids.  After two more weeks the seller reduced the price all the way down to $4.95, but retained the $2.45 shipping fee.  The final listing was for the week ending June 8 when he had another 5¢ price reduction, and when that didn’t work, he ended the listing.

4/13/16

Idaho, Weiser.  1963 Territorial Centennial/National Fiddler’s Festival Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $4.00.  Typically available Uncirculated, this one in XF/AU was up for bid for $13.50 with FREE shipping.  It did not sell, and the seller continued to list it a Buy It Now item at the same price.  The current listing ends on June 15.

4/14/16

Arizona, Bisbee.  1912 Elks Bazaar Dollar Token.  Not previously listed, and probably it will stay that way.  Nothing is really commemorated.  Some collectors feel that since the dates of the event are mentioned, (Nov. 12 to 16 1912) it and other denominations should be counted as municipals.  If you have any thoughts about it, please let me know.  This one was offered for $17.00 plus $3.00 , but received no bids.  It was then made a Buy It Now item for the same price.  Still available as of May 27.

4/14/16

Louisiana, Tangipahoa.  1969 Centennial Half Dollar.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value was $17.50, but it will be significantly lower in the next edition.  Offered at a start of $5.00 plus $2.50 shipping, this nice piece failed to draw a single bid.  Still available at the same price with the current listing ending on June 26.

Kansas, Leavenworth.  1969 Buffalo Bill Cody Days Dollar.  Mintage 3,650.  Catalog value $6.00.  First year of a series that continued for a total of 15 years.  The opening bid was $6.00 and postage $2.50 more.  There were no bids and it was not relisted.

4/16/16

Texas, Winkler County.  1960 Winkler County Golden Jubilee Half Dollar.  Mintage 2,500.  Catalog value $4.00.  There was a $4.25 plus $2.50 start for this nice uncirculated token, but that was apparently too much to tempt a bid out of anyone.  Not relisted.

4/17/16

Arizona, Tombstone.  Undated Helldorado Days Dollar in Aluminum.  Unknown mintage.  Catalog value $3.50.  This one up for bid at $6.50 plus $2.50 shipping.  When it ws still bidless two weeks later, the seller ended his listing unsold.

4/17/16

Michigan, White Lake.  1993 Ferris Wheel Centennial Cardboard Nickel.  37mm.  Golden on one side, black print on white on the other.  Unknown mintage.  Not previously listed.  Offered for $12.95 plus $3.00 for shipping.  It was too much for me - and everyone else as well because it did not get a bid.  It came back the following week as a Buy It Now item at the same price.  Currently (May 31) with a Make Offer option. I might list this one, but it is not really a community event being remembered.  We’ll see.  **** I decided to take advantage of the Make Offer option  and sent in an offer of $7.00 - making my total cost $10.00, which is pretty high for an item like this.  It was not immediately accepted, but I’ll know within 24 hours if the seller will go that low. ****Yep - he sold it to me.

4/17/16

Marshall Islands, Kwajalein.  Undated Kwaj Karnival Two Dollars.  Unknown mintage.  Not previously cataloged.  This Extremely Fine specimen was offered for $2.00 plus $2.54 shipping, attracted 18 bids by 4 bidders, and sold for $21.50.

New York, New York City.  1909 Henry Hudson Daalder reverse muled with a replica Sommers Islands “Hogge Money” copy in Silver.  A fantasy concocted around 1961 by Robert Bashlow.  Not previously  cataloged, but if I include the Henry Hudson pieces in the next edition, I suppose these restrikes should be listed too.  3,000 of these were struck in silver.  This one entombed in a NGC slab and graded MS-68.  Offered for $149.95 with FREE shipping.  There were no bids.  It was not relisted.
